Hello all!

We are DVC members who have recently relocated to California courtesy of the USAF.

We have been fortunate enough to stay at the DVC villas at the Grand Californian a few times and have a trip to look forward to this December. :cool1:

I am taking a "mom-cation" to DL next year for the 60th Anniversary, however, and will be paying for a room.

I booked a standard room for Paradise Pier yesterday but then called today to confirm it because I never received an email confirmation. While speaking with the wonderful CM, she checked for any military discounts and found one for Premium View / Concierge level for just a bit more then I was planning to pay ~ how awesome is that?!?!

Now, here's where I need your help -- since I never thought ANY type of discounts would be available during the 60th Anniversary, I never even thought to ask. Should I stick with what I have, or see what's available at the other 2 hotels?

It will just be me. No kids, no strollers, no hubby. I get to do what I want, when I want and stay as long as I want so I think I will be at the parks more then anything. However, I LOVE hotels and everything about staying in them. As wonderful as the DVC villas are and as much as we love staying in them, there is just something about a regular Disney Hotel room ;)

So, stick with Paradise Pier or try for DL Hotel of Grand Californian?

Thanks!

Why not check? I haven't stayed at Paradise Pier myself, but I've read lots of great things, especially about the concierge level. But I guess if I were you, I'd call and see if there's anything else--then you'll know, and you can make a decision with all the information.

If money isn't an issue, I think you should check the rates at the DLH and GCH. The concierge level is cheapest at the PPH though, so you will likely have more of an upcharge if you book concierge at the other hotels.

Thanks!

I was hoping to get a few opinions on why people preferred one hotel over another and compare those things to what I like the most. That way, when I called and was told what was available I would know which one I wanted most.

Does that make sense?

So if Concierge at PP is about the same as theme park view at DLH, which would I choose? Or is there something really special at DLH that I have no idea about since I've never stayed there, or maybe at PP?

Thanks!

Personally, I would stay with the PPH Concierge level if I was on a solo trip. You can pop in and out of the Concierge room as needed since you will be on your own schedule, enjoy the theme park view...plus, you haven't stayed there.
I would save DLH for when I had the family with me.

I've never stayed concierge but if I could stay concierge at DLH over the PPH I would choose DLH however if it's too much more I would stay concierge at PPH over a regular room at DLH.

Thanks!

Just curious, how do you get to the parks from Paradise Pier? Having only stayed at GC, I'm not sure where the other 2 hotels are in relation to the parks.

Crazy, I know!

Another vote for a theme park view at PPH with concierge. I prefer PPH over DLH on all aspects except the pool. I'm glad I stayed at DLH, but I won't again. Until I afford to check out the Grand, I'm sticking with the Pier. We just love it. Not one member of my family (myself, my parents, my daughters -they are 20 and 11and my son -6) prefers DLH (except for the pool, but you can rent a cabana even when staying at another onsite hotel).
The view at the Pier cannot be beat and we thought the staff was much friendlier, in the concierge lounge, and in general.

Thank you! That's very helpful :)

I'm not a big pool person and love a good view.

We have been lucky with our WOC / Mickey Death Wheel view each time we have stayed at the Grand :wizard:

Thanks!

Cross the street and walk thru the GCH hotel. Stay right to use the hotel entrance into DCA or left thru DTD to DL.
