Greetings all ...

DH, DD and I are heading to WDW for a long weekend in January. It is a spur of the moment trip ... so when I called MS for a studio at BWV all they had available was VWL. So I took that and am now wait-listed at BWV (our home resort).

As DH and I talked more about the trip the more we are thinking of staying at VWL even though we love being at BWV and walking to EPCOT and MGM. We will have a car this trip.

So ... with that being said ... what would you do and why?

Thanks!

No doubt, staying at BWV and being right in the middle of things is appealing. However, the VWL is also awsome. You can hop a boat to the TTC, and catch the monorail to Epcot, or catch a bus to many destinations or directly to the MK (bypassing the TTC) and hop any bus there as well. It may not be in walking distance from parks, but the relaxing atmosphere is really great.

It was so hard for DW and I to decide between these two resorts - that we bought contracts at both!

We stay at the BWV for Food & Wine, and at the VWL for January (DWs birthday). Truly the best of both worlds.

You will not be disappointed with a stay at VWL. Since it will be January, and chilly at night - kick back and enjoy the fireplace in the lobby and just enjoy the hot chocolate and people watching.

:cool1:

It's a good thing to stay at different resorts. Even if you like BWV the best of all, I think all of the DVC resorts offer something unique and special. As a member, one of the primary benefits for me is getting to experience the very different atmosphere at different resorts while still retaining that DVC feeling. We decided early on in our membership that we were going to stay at all of the DVCs and we truly found something nice about each of them and we now regularly stay at more than just our home resort.

I would advise keeping the VWL reservation for the first hand experience.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Thanks PCWizard :teeth:

You raise a great point about relaxing by the fireplace after a chilly day in the parks. We were down at WDW the same week last year, at BWV, and we FROZE!!

We will head to BWV for 8 nights in June ... and that will be a major parks week for us :cool1:

Good point Jarestel ... DH tends to be a creature of habit :rotfl: Guess because he travels so much he likes being "home." But as I have told him ... long as I am at WDW I am home.

Boardwalk is my home and I love it. Having said that if you've never stayed at VWL before this would be a great time to try it. It isn't our favorite but I'm glad we gave it a try.

Hi,

Mom & I love VWL!!! It's always good to try something new. Have fun deciding!

I say VWL! Give it a try. I think you'll like it. If not, back to BWV you go. You have 39 (?) more years.

You all (or as they say in my adopted state y'all) have been very helpful! I am going to call MS and cancel my waitlist for BWV!

Planning is such fun!

Only on the Disboards would someone in Sept call a January trip "spur of the moment." Hee hee.

I have stayed at both places and agree that VWL in January is awesome. It's so cozy to be able to sit in front of the fireplace sipping hot chocolate on a chilly night. We were there last January and froze our butts off! Luckily we are from Vermont so we are somewhat accustomed to the chill; I had a hoodie on with light gloves while some of the CMs were wearing eskimo parkas!

Pig Pen ... I am ROFLMAO .. sort of the same response from DH! He even wants to go without ADRS ... the horror!!!

Since we moved south to NC from PA I am amazed at the lack of tolerance that we have for chilly weather.

I think VWL will be a nice change for us ... especially since we have to run the air conditioner when we turn on the gas fireplace at Christmas here in NC:rotfl:
