Opinions Please - Add on at BLT, AKV or both?

We are getting ready to add another 55 points and are trying to decide where to add on. With such a small contract I don't really know how much the 11 month booking window matters but we are having a hard time deciding between BLT and AKV.

DH even joked that maybe we should split it and add 25 at one and 30 at the other.

The whole - buy where you want to stay concept would apply to both properties as we love the animals at AKV and the location of BLT. I wouldn't be disappointed with either choice.

I know AKV is cheaper right now but I have also seen the buzz about BLT points possibly being more valuable on the rental market in the future.

What would you do?

We've decided to add-on at both, albeit in somewhat larger increments. If you're going for 55, I'd say pick one or the other, and probably AKV, as the points are less money and the rooms are less points.

I think a 30 point contract (in the split scenario) at BLT wouldn't do all that much for you. The point values at BLT are high enough that even 3 years worth (with banking and borrowing) of a 30 point contract will get you, at best, 5 nights in a MK view studio in Choice season. If you're going to want to try a 1-bedroom, or different time of year, 30 points will do even less. There are some resorts (OKW, SSR) where you can really stretch a small contract, but BLT isn't one of them.

I think you'd be better off concentrating your efforts on one resort to give yourself more flexibility as to when you come and what sort of villa you book.

If the 11 month window is not a big issue then it's BLT without question. It is all about the MF. You will end up saving a lot of money over the years at BLT. But do it before January when the minimum gets bumped up to 100 points for BLT.
