Opinions on what we should do?

We have a last minute 3 night stay at AKL, only doing 1 day at MK and three resort days, 2 adults and DD7 and DS5.. so far we have booked:

Day #1

Dinner at Ohanas

Day #2 (MK day)
Breakfast at CP
Dinner at WCC

Day #3

nothing

Day #4

nothing

When we aren't at MK, we plan on doing a lot of pool time and maybe a water park.. Last time we did 13 nights on DxDP and thought it was too much food for that long of a time.. Now with only 3 nights thinking it would be ok..

With the 3 meals we have planned we are pushing $300, and total cost of deluxe plan will be $605.. so if we add this, comes out to about $300 for 6 meals, not too bad..

Is it a good or bad idea to do deluxe plan while doing so much resort time?

I really wouldn't even consider doing DxDP without having first secured a few more ADRs. You really want to be using at least 2/3 of your credits for TS to break even.

On the other hand, with what you already have booked, basic DDP plus maybe a little extra OOP might actually work out well, with 2 kids in the party.

So... if you're going to book a few more TS, I'd suggest seeing if you can do it, and then go with DxDP if that makes sense. Otherwise, basic DDP plus OOP might work better.

As for a dining plan (either one) with a mostly-resort stay, I don't see why it would be a problem. I'd imagine that especially if you're using resort restaurants, it's be far less of a "scramble to the next meal" situation than you'd see in the parks.

Why would you want the deluxe plan for 3 nights when you are only going to 3 restaurants? That will leave you 6 credits that you'd have to use for CS unless you booked some more TS. If you plan to book at least 3 more TS (or some 2 credit TS) it might be worth it. If you are going to stick with that schedule, go with the regular dining plan if you want a dining plan. Not only that, but you have booked 2 all you can eat restaurants, where you would get the full menu anyway, so the appetizer allotment for the adults is relevant only for WCC if you were not planning to order the skillet.

Thus the "so far...."

I have just booked Sanaa(lunch) ,Jiko and Plaza(lunch) if we decide to do the plan.. would leave me 2 TS remaining.. for days 3 and 4, would be either for breakfast or lunch..

That is a lot of restaurants for a 3 night stay. As you mentioned you thought it was too much food on your 13 night visit, you will also have to decide if that is too much food and too much time spent in restaurants on a 3 night visit.
