Opinions on UGG boots?

Ugg boots are popular around here, and my teenager would like a pair for Christmas. The ones she likes are $140, so this would be her "big" gift. I am not too familiar with them. Does anyone have opinions on uggs? Also, do you know if they run true to size?
Thanks for any help you can give!

I can't say much about "true" UGG boots but I bought some for DD (6 1/2 yo) at Target for under $30 and they are almost identical. Maybe it is different for someone who's feet are still growing, but I just can't see spending that much for a "name" when you can get really cute ones for much less.

I personally don't care for them, but if that's what DD wants and she knows it the "big" gift, go ahead and get them. I have a question though, are they still in style? This is not snark, I am seriously asking?

I don't care for them either but my 15 year old daughter wants and pair (which she's not getting) but they *must* be the real thing.

As I was shopping this weekend, I saw a number of young girls in the Ugg boots and short denim skirts. Looks cute on them but not a look for me!

DD (16) got a pair of the clog version of Uggs for her school shoes this year. I was so happy to get her out of flip-flops for a change--she'd wear them all winter if I'd let her. Even though they're clogs, at least more of her foot is covered up. :teeth: She loves them and wears them all the time. It seems like dd's Uggs were a smaller size than she usually wears.

They're very popular, they sell out all the time where we live. I tried to get my mom a pair of Ugg's last Christmas and it took forever to find a place that still had some in stock!

I have the Ugg 'slippers' (Tasman) in sand and raisin and LOVE them. I wear them all winter long. They're very comfortable!! (and they're not just slippers, I wear them everywhere) I wear size 6 and my Uggs that I have on right now are a size W5. (they stretch a bit) Hope that helps!

My dd is 16 and wants a pair. trouble is, she's got a small foot -- size 5 1/2. she'd have to get a 6, since they don't come in half sizes, and all the size 6's seem to be sold out around here -- and on backorder at the Uggs website.

We have several pairs of Ugg boots, shoes and clogs. I've been buying them for several years now. They don't sell out as quickly as they used to, so, you can still get them with virtually no problem. I ordered all of ours on zappos.com. They come in 2-3 days and their return policy is fantastic. I always buy true to size even though alot of people found that they're supposed to feel snug in the very beginning and then will adjust to your foot within a few days. I never found that to be the case with us. I always get our true size. Log onto zappos.com and click on Uggs. They have a good selection.

Ilove them, I love them, I love them!!!

They run a smidge larger than size. And you are to order down from what you wear... i.e., I wear a 9.5 - I bought a 9. They are to "mold" to your feet. :thumbsup2

I got these about a month ago for quitting smoking, as a gift to myself.... $140 at Von Maur: (these are my boots on the train, when I didnt know I was taking a picture! DOH!!)

I love mine. I have 4 pairs of the boots and 2 pairs of shoes. I save money by getting Uggs in kid sizes. I wear a ladies 6.5 to 7 and I get size 5 kids Uggs and they fit perfectly.

My DD15 tells me Saturday she wants a pair of boots.. not necessarily the Ugg ones just ones like that.. I looked high and low everywhere for some lookalikes and couldnt find any that were under $100.. I really couldnt spend this much because Ive already done all her other shopping and this would put me way over what I would spend.. so yesterday I drove by Famous Footwear and decided to go in and they have whats called Bear Claws.. Look very close to the Uggs.. For $49!! I grabbed her a pair..

Before I even got to the end of your post I was thinking of Bear Paws (or is it Bear Claws??). I've seen them too at our stores and they look just like the Uggs to me. But my DD will have none of that!!

I bought DD17 a pair last year for Christmas and they've worn very, very well. They really look cute. They're very warm and there's no need to wear socks with them. In fact, they recommend you don't.

My opinion or my DDs....????? I think they're kinda clunky looking, and way, way too expensive. My DD thinks they are the coolest things on the planet and she wears hers all the time! (We didn't purchase them. They were given to her as a gift. Thank god for her godmother!) If you do get them, here's an important tip. Despite their recommendations, I would tell her to be sure she always wears some kind of light socks with them. Yes, they're warm enough to go without but you can't wash the inside and they can get really, really stinky on the inside after a while. If you wear socks, you have something you can take out and wash.

DD16 has a pair of the classic UGG boots. We bought them for her last year, and she wears them all the time, (well, not in warm weather), and they've held up quite well. She wears a size 6 in most of her footwear, but the UGGS tend to run big. Her UGG boots are a size 5, and even at that, they're a tiny bit big. The boots are supposed to form to your foot after you wear them for a bit. She usually wears footie type socks with them, but sometimes she doesn't wear any socks.

I just took a few pictures of daughter's UGGS. They are kind of chunky looking, but they wear well, and I think they're worth the price.
