opinions on the Sony Handycam HDR-XR520V

Hi everyone, I am thinking of getting a new camcorder for our August trip. We currently have a very old handycam (with the mini dvd's) and are thinking of "upgrading" it to Sony Handycam HDR-XR520V. We love the way sony's in general work, but I would really appreciate some expert opinions before we purchase Also, is there a better time to purchase it? Should I just wait until the last minute and see if a deal comes up? Thanks!!

I'm looking for a user-friendly and easy to carry and use mini-camcorder for my husband who has only one arm.
