I asked the same question...I received all of two or three responses I wonder if the food is not so good - or if this place is just less heard about and less visited than others because it's at a less popular hotel?! The menu doesn't look so bad to us.. we may just eat here this year and decide for ourselves!!
I asked about Maya Grill a few months ago and didn't get too many responses either, but the one's I got were positive. Then I read Kevin Klose's review last night and saw his party didn't have a good dining experience. So I don't know what to think.
I hope some more people who have eaten there will post, I think in general, meals at Maya, Boatright's, Shutter's, or some of the resorts that aren't as close to a park or have character meals don't get discussed as much as places like Chef Mickey's, Kona Cafe, or California Grill.
We just wanted to visit Coronado again and eat somewhere we haven't tried, so that's why we were interested in Maya Grill.
We ate at the Maya Grill last year because we were staying at CSR and thought we would try it. It was'nt a bad meal, but not a very good one. We're not planning on going back for dinner (maybe we'll try breakfast) and we are staying at CSR again this year. By the way CSR is a very nice place, we chose it because we like it's theming with the fountains and flowers and beach area with hammocks. It also has a gym and the biggest hot tub on property. Linda
We ate there last August for the first time and enjoyed everything. It is my DS16 favorite restaurant. We actually have reservations twice for our up coming trip this August.
I'm interested in a few more opinions if anyone has any
We have ADR right now, but keep waffling between keeping it or trying something like the GF Cafe
If you look on the Resort board you will see that it's quite popular for those who choose to stay in Mods. It's our absolute favorite and we would stay there over any deluxe, regardless of the price. Every time we've visited (even during quiet Feb) it's always completely booked. Maybe you don't hear about it as much because a good chunk is filled with the conventioneers and they wouldn't be posting on the boards? It's a fabulous place though.
That said, we've never ventured into the Maya grill. We are in love with the Pepper Market so we eat most of our meals there or at the Poly
We ate there during free dining last year, and it was AVERAGE at best. Service was bad to poor, the food was nothing great (not bad either). We would not go back.
