We are thinking of getting our 5 year old a GB for Christmas. Is the Micro appropriate for a 5 year old? There are a couple places that have it for around $35 the day after Thanksgiving.
I've thought about getting DS5 a Gameboy, lately. From what I've read on reviews, the Gameboy Advance PS gets much better reviews for the larger screen size and the fact that it can play any of the Gameboy games. The micro screen is pretty tiny and it can only play the games made for the micro.
According to http://www.gottadeal.com, Circuit City will have the GBA PS on sale as an Early Bird sale for $49.99 and Walmart and Toys R Us will each have some of the games on sale.
Funny, I just saw one the other day, a display model you could play. Now I have quite good vision (with my glasses on) and could barely see this thing.
I think it's just too small to be enjoyable...the screen is smaller than most cell phone screens.
Thanks for those opinions. I wish we had a Circuit City. I wonder if I could buy it online. We have never had video games besides a Leapster, so we don't have the old ones. Older DD just got a DS and that's all we have.
Do you have a used game store in your area? We have them around us and they are called GameStop or EB Games - some are in the mall. They sell used game systems and games and that might be a way to go if you are not sure if your child will like/play with it. I bought my dd a used sp when she was 6 - she will be 8 in january and I bought her a pink ds lite for Christmas (so she can give me mine back!!) Ds12 has 2 sp's and 2 ds's (not the lites - he likes the older, bigger ones). Most of them were bought at GameStop. We have also bought used games from them. They have been good about taking things back when they don't work - had that problem once with a game and once with a controller bought for the gamecube.
