Whats everyone's experiences of All Star Sports? Since I booked my hol there I'm reading some awful things on websites-it appears to be akin to Beirut! :scared1:

If you're reading reviews on tripadvisor, you need to take what is said with a pinch of salt. I have always found that reviews by the Americans tend to be bad as they have much higher expectations than the Brits.

I haven't stayed there myself but there are a few DISers who have so hopefully, they will be able to put your mind at rest.

Ive stayed at Movies before and its fantastic there! I think Sports is pretty similar, just a bit smaller. I really wouldnt worry!

We have stayed at the All Star Sports 4 times and the All Star Movies once (our most recent trip was in May at the All Star Sports) and we love it. The rooms aren't particularly big, but they are big enough and clean (lets face it, it's only somewhere to crash out). For our next trip we are trying the Pop Century, just for a change, but we wouldn't think twice about going back to the All Stars Resorts.

Tripadvisor is actually a very good site - prbably the best revkiew site there is.

there are extreme reviews (both ways) but the best thing to do is read em all and you will get feel for what the average (and correct) review is.

I didn't say it wasn't a good site, I just said you need to take some of what the reviews say with a pinch of salt.

Like you say, there are extreme reports on all the hotels - I have yet to find a hotel on there which has all good said about it!

I've had brief stays at Music and Movies and apart from the theming, they are very similar, adjacent resorts. But the Sports does have the advantage that at less busy times of day when all 3 are sharing buses, they pick up at the Sports first (you are more likely to get a seat) and you are first to be dropped off.

Thanks everyone-I'm not bothered about the size of the room or the facilities-I was just more than a litle freaked to read about the gangs of marauding teens on the rampage in AS Sports (LOL-I hope) :earseek:

Hi,

We stayed there in April 2002 and are going back next year, it was fantastic, nothing wrong with it at all. We heard someone recently critising it (and they had never been) but as I said, to stay on site is so special it is fantastic.

On the tripadvisor issue, we just got back from Cuba, some of the hotel reviews I read before we went horrified me, but our hotel and resort was great. As someone said earlier, take them with a pinch of salt and make your own mind up. I have looked at the Waldorf Astoria reviews and someone was panning that. Some people are never happy.

But all said and done, if your not sure, we'll take you tickets off you cause thats the sort of nice bloke I am :rotfl2:

Cheers

Steve

When we went in 96 & 98 there were lots of south american school children on arranged trips that insisted on cutting queues and general rudeness, but the hotel itself was absolutely fantastic from the helpfull staff through to the frequent buses.

I also went to movies in may 2004 and didnt have any problems at all.. infact, im going back in 5 weeks!
