Opinions on a Dress **UPDATE** Dress added pg. 2

Thanks jojo...come to find out there is a store in "town". I've been there to try on dresses and for the life of me I can't remember seeing any Maggie dresses.

I'm definately going back to check it out again!

I vote for jojoandhb for the Poster With the Most Practical Help of the Year.

:grouphug: for jojo, and everyone else on here that is so willing to step up and help.

Any of these dresses are lovely, and I think all would be flattering. I tried on a dress like this (and I am a curvy size 12) and it was figure flattering. The longer dropped waist line avoids what mamacat was cautioning about, the big huge skirt looking deal that would emphasize the hips overly much. The dropped waist creates a longer line, and shows off the waist.

Hey, I just noticed you all are in Louisiana! Where about is Marksville? My fiance and I had our first long weekend together in New Orleans, on August 29, 2005---recognize that date? :bitelip:

DF is a huge Saints fan. And this year I can actually watch their games with him, without wanting to cry. :happytv: Or laugh. Or something.

My personal favorite...so far anyway...lol...is the 2nd red one that you posted!

DH and I want to do a VR sometime too! I've found all of these dresses that certainly qualify as my dream dress too...lol. Maybe after this adoption is completed...hmmmm....;)

I tried on that last Maggie dress! Funniest thing ever - I'm, er, perky up top and the dress didn't cover enough... :rotfl2: It would have been an "R" rated wedding with that dress!! So here's fair warning, that last dress sits VERY low!

As it so happens, I was born in the great city of New Orleans! Lived there for a little while and still have family there.

What a devastating weekend to spend in that once beautiful city. I have not been back since the disaster, and I understand it to still be very sad. New Orleans has a special place in my heart and it's depressing to see the city in disarray. But it is a strong city and will climb back from this...Just wait! You'll see.

We too watch the Saints and laugh, cry, etc... :confused3 :rotfl: :furious: :sad2: You can always count on the Saints for an emotional game.!

 I almost forgot to answer your original question about Marksville. The city of Marksville is considered part if CenLa (sin-la). We are almost smack in the middle of the state. We are just south of Alexandria. We have a large casino here locally. Paragon Casino.

Hey Tink! We have been back since then--almost a year to the day. We love Newawlins--the history, the music, the architecture, the whole thing. You either get it or you don't, ya know? It is still pretty sad, but the Quarter is okay. We spent a *ton* of money, and when my DF would start to complain I would remind him it was our patriotic duty to help rebuild NOLA... ;)

We ate dinner tonight at a cajun food place--and I am so full...ugh. But the food is FABULOUS ! ! ! Almost as good as Muriel's.

Saturday evening before Katrina we stood in Battery Park and looked out towards the church, and I just felt like crying. I had such a bad feeling. Everyone was just partying and acting like nothing was happening...it was eerie.

But <brighter note> it is coming back, slow but sure. And when we were there we saw the best wedding at the church--it was great!

Returning to topic: You should check out Pearl's Place Bridal in Metarie. (sp?) They are super nice, and have great prices...and they could use the business.

Yeah, well, the Saints. Last year we went to the game at the Dome Friday night before the hurricane. At half time I turned to my fiance and said, "what does your team call this game?" and he said, "football!" I said, "uh, I think the Falcons are playing football...I'm not sure what your team is doing, dude." :rotfl: He says that's when he knew he was in love. LOL. BUT! They are looking pretty good this year! :cheer2:
