Opinions of Captains Grill at YC

I'm thinking of making an ADR at the Captains Grill on our first night at the YC. I have a feeling our first night there we'll be pretty tired. We already have a late night dinner ADR at Chef Mickeys. However, I'm concerned of buffets right now down there and we really did the character dinners in August our first time down.

I have heard nothing of this place but often times these can be the best kept secrets. Any opinions of this restaurant?

We had Thanksgiving dinner there last month and really enjoyed it. I have heard great things about their normal meals and to me they definitel lived up to the reviews I've read.

We ate there this past summer & it was the best meal of our 10 trip. :thumbsup2

If you think your group will be tired though, I'd probably not eat there that night. We were seated right on time for our 7:40pm ADR, it was a very LEISURELY dinner & we were not finished until 10pm.

Then we spent a 1/2 our walking the Boardwalk to work off some of our wonderful meal!

**EDITED TO ADD: WRONG RESTAURANT! OOPS! I THOUGHT YOU WERE ASKING ABOUT THE YACHTSMAN.

That's ok. We are also going to be eating at the Yachtsman as well.

Anyone else have an opinion of the Captains Grill?

We are big fans.

I wouldn't worry about the pace of the meal, as we were there in September with a party of six, and had dinner and dessert - and birthday singing - and were out in less than two hours.

The service is always gracious and friendly, and the menu may be kind of basic but we've never been disappointed with anything we've chosen.

It is also quiet and usually uncrowded, especially late, and so may be just the thing to help y'all unwind after a travelling day.

DW and I have eaten at both the Captains Grill and Yachtsman.

We had lunch at the Captains Grill... service was a little slow but the food was decent. The food was priced according to its quality.

Dinner at Yachtsman... Food and service were fantastic. It was a bit more expensive than the Captains Grill but I think that it was worth it. It took a while for dinner but we weren't in any hurry.

We liked both places and plan on visiting the Yachtsman again when we are there in Jan. :thumbsup2

We love the Captain's Grille. They also have a really good breakfast there. No characters, but a nice, quiet meal.

We have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there (YC is our favorite resort). The other posters are right about the basic menu...but it's a nice break from both the "themed" and "upscale" restaurants around WDW.

Every time we've eaten there, we've had excellent service!

DH and I ate there in April and we loved it! There is a link in my April thread with a ton of pics and full review

Shhhhhhhhhh...this is a well kept secret. I loved the fish of the day which was halibut and the New England Lager-braised Mussels were to die for.
This is a good choice in my opinion.

Enjoy,
Mrs. Disney Ron

We loved it--think it is a hidden gem.
