Opinions Needed on Sherton Anaheim & Sheraton Park Hotels

Every time I book a Disneyland vacation I always check booking directly with Disney, Expedia and AAA. AAA is always the most expensive and often they don't seem to offer the same incentives (like the gift cards or 4th night free deals you can get offseason). I have always ended up booking through Expedia or using my DVC points. I love AAA but not for Disneyland vacations. Now I have always gotten a discount for WDW rooms that can add up. I just don't think their Disney packages are that great except for the enhanced fastpass option at Disneyland which I am not even sure they offer anymore.

Lives4Disney - I just finished reading your thread. WOW...$800/nt??!! That is insane. I wonder if your agent misquoted you, maybe added your package up wrong.:confused3 Anyhow, I am so-o glad you found another option, Sheraton Anaheim. From reading your posts you sound really relieved. I remember a few weeks back you were wondering if the daybed or maybe the roll away bed would be big/long enough for your son. You sort of sounded a little hesitant then with the GCH. I hope you feel better about everything now. Have you already paid a deposit with AAA? Will you lose much if you have and decide not to continue your package with them? Off to check out the Sheraton now and see if it is somewhere to add to my list once the kiddos are out of strollers!! As for now, we must stay within walking distance:upsidedow

AAA does not offer that enhanced FP anymore. My AAA agent told me in early January that AAA was trying to renegotiate it into their package & it would be coming back. (wrong) That EFP is the only reason I booked with them. I checked the WDWTC and this AAA package is $300 cheaper than the same thing thru them! Expedia's rates look a bit lower, but with tax it's close to the same, Costco didn't have concierge, Disneyland online without a package couldn't book me a concierge room (it obviously WAS available, but not a choice for online room only booking), Disneyland phone reservationist was SO RUDE to me I wound up saying "Thanks, I'll call back", and just never did. I was so turned off.

I also use AAA for room only at WDW - that's actually why I bought the membership! I just call myself and have it applied, don't go thru the agent. She didn't even save me anything on the room only portion. I was just going to let it all slide and go thru with it until I saw this Sheraton as an option.

As I said, I am sooooo new to DL, and have tons of guide books, you all and DLonline, to help, but it got overwhelming and I didn't want to miss out on the EE or TTM, etc and thought package seemed the way to go. :headache:

Tracer, yes I actually feel relief to be almost out of that "deal". I feel like this trip will just be an expedition. If we like DLR, we'll be back & the ceiling will be the limit. :thumbsup2 It's going to be a weird stay, I think, not being on DLR property. Although I was reading that DL vs WDW info thread and I feel a bit better about it.... WDW it is more important to stay on the grounds as we have always done. We are staying the first 1/2 of our vacation in San Diego at a beautiful resort, so the trip will be a good one, either way! :goodvibes

There is no comparison between staying onsite at WDW vs. DL. Don't get me wrong, I love all three onsite hotels at DL but I have had great wonderful stays at DL staying offsite as well. If WDW didn't have the mods, values and my DVC (SSR) and my only choices were the deluxe's I'd probably have to do the same there. Thank goodness that isnt' the case! But its also just a difference in the whole dynamics of DL vs. WDW. At WDW, we spend more time at our resort and we stay a lot longer most of the time. At DL we frequently do four day weekend type trips when its all about the parks. And the parks at DL, Disneyland in particular are so incredible with so many of the rides and all of Fantasyland being superior to the MK that the parks are really what we go for anyway. Not the resort, dining extravaganza we go for at WDW. And I have to say, that Sheraton looks wonderful and I can't imagine your not having a wonderful stay there.

If I didn't have some extra point to burn for nine nights at the DLH, I would probably be staying at the Sheraton the whole time instead. And with its castley look, it looks Disney enough for me! Have a great trip!
