I finally received my Shareholder's Club membership card and am looking forward to the 15% discount on meals during our visit in October. But I've been reading so many posts about the Half Board programs, and now I'm beginning to wonder which is the better deal... Half Board or 15% discount? Any opinions out there? I'm sure someone can help me decide (which will probably just confuse me all the more!)

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Ok I've tried to do a little work out for you based on the Adult Price at the Cheyenne Buffet.

Current price on the door E23
Price with discount E19.55
Price of HB Voucher £16

E19.55/1.08=£18.10

Cost of buffet after discount in £ = £18.10

£18.10 (cost of buffet) - £16 (price of HB voucher) = £2.10

I make that a saving of £2.10 paying in advance with HB vouchers over your 15% shareholders discount.

Currency exchange rates will affect this working out though.

As above, this question is a tricky one to answer - especially so far out in advance.

I take it from your location that you're based in the US? If that is the case, then it will depend on both the dollar exchange rate at the time you go (or the time you get your euros if you're paying cash) and the dollar price of the half board. The other thing it depends on is whether you are using your half board vouchers at face value (i.e to subtract money from your bill and then pay the rest with cash/card as you want to eat a la carte) or if you are using them against the buffet / halfboard set menu.

You usually get better value for money by using them against the halfboard set menus / buffet, but of course you don't get as much choice as if you went a la carte.

You like Halfboard and you like Discount.

But which would be best?

Only one way to find out...........

The exchange rate will figure highly in this debate.

But for people who pay in pounds sterling, and for visits up til April 09 anyway, half board vouchers typically save you more than 15%.

This is the funniest thing I've read today!

Came up with another question which may make my whole dilemma a moot point... Must the HalfBoard plan be purchased for the entire length of stay? We'll be staying seven nights, but only planning on doing about 3 days in the parks, and touring Paris the other 3 days. If we'd be required to purchase the HB plan for the full 7 nights, it'd be more to our advantage to stick with the Shareholder Discount. No?

Yes, you have to buy the HB vouchers for the number of nights you are staying, so for you ther Shareholder discount seems the way to go.

also the HB plan in the all you can eat buffets include a drink which are around 3euros to add on to the cost because the price of the buffet on the day doesn't - drinks are extra.

in march we paid £13 per adult for hb and exchange rate was 1 for 1. On the day it cost 23 euros plus a drink which would have cost 26 euros so a 50 percent saving

so for us as we were staying in the park it wsa worth it to get the hb vouchers
