Opinions needed....Flying in morning of cruise

Not advisable.

You may not have weather related issues to worry about delaying your flight but you could have mechanical issues. My BFF took a cruise last My and there was a couple who was flying from BWI and there plane has issues and flight was delayed almost 8 hours! Needless to say since it was the airlines fault the airline got them to the Bahamma where the met up with the ship. The only thing was they has missed 2 days of their 4 day cruise.

Or whose to say there is a bad accident on the main route to the port has a backed up traffic jam. The are few ways to detour in order to get to the port.

Sometimes cruise air will assist you. Some lines have some kind of guarantee. Other times the cruise line will tell you to deal with the airline. Frequently cruise air uses consolidator fares. Those tickets can't be endorsed over to another airline.

Sometimes travel insurance will offer benefits and/or help if you have airline issues. The delay must exceed a certain threshold before the policy kicks in. A delay could be long enough to miss your ship but not long enough for your travel insurance to offer anything.

People relying on cruise air, or travel insurance, to help them if they miss their ship should carefully read the fine print before booking.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. My DD's preschool graduation is the night before the cruise date, so there would be no way to leave a day early. I think we are just going to go on the Dream on 5/18 instead. That way we have no problems leaving a day early. Thanks again!!
