Hi Everyone,
My name is Colleen and I usually just lurk on these boards. I hope this is the right place for my question!
Next year, I will be graduating from grad school and I have a 1 week Disney World trip planned with my mom. However, I recently found out about the Universal Land+Sea trip and it seems like for the roughly the same price, we could do a few days at Universal and then a Royal Caribbean cruise. Has anyone done the land+sea package and do you recommend it? Should I change my trip?

Sorry that was so long. Thanks in advance for your replies!! :thumbsup2

The U land & sea package is convenient but I'd certainly price out the separate components of any packaged trip. I've yet to find bundling it to be less expensive for dates I've checked.

Have you cruised in the past? Don't forget to include tips, alcoholic drinks and possible shopping & excursions into your calculations

Port Canaveral is an 'easy' port to navigate and there are many transportation options available from the resorts and airport.

Aside from asking yourself which vacation option is more appealing, it helps to compare apples to apples when evaluating the 'best deal'. i.e. are you looking at a 7 day RC cruise on the Freedom or Oasis, or shorter one on one of their older ships (less bells & whistles) vs staying onsite at one of the WDW deluxe resorts?

Have fun planning!

Thanks for your reply! I'll definitely check everything separately. Right now, we're booked at POFQ. We've been spoiled and stayed at WL and AKL before. But, this time the price is just too high for a deluxe.

We have cruised in the past (3 RCCL and 1 CCL out of Baltimore as well as 2 DCL on the Wonder and Fantasy). I'm very interested in RCCL's newer ships, like the Oasis and Allure. However, it looks like they're not sailing out of Port Canaveral the time we'd go. You're definitely right about not forgetting tips and excursions. They add up fast! Also, we prefer the longer cruises because you have more time to "settle in." I think the main pro right now is I could convince my dad to come along with us. He likes Universal, but is Disney'd out. :rotfl2:

Thank you again for the advice. I know we can't go wrong either way!

Oasis is on my bucket list too. was surprised to see her sailing late next year out of PC.

I agree the prices have gone sky high, especially for POFQ. As the dates get closer, onsider checking out the 20% off deals you can find on orbitz & cheap tickets at both WDW & U.

I'll definitely check Orbitz out. Who knows if Disney will release more discounts, so it's good to have options!

If you end up doing a land/sea trip please post your impressions! No trip (so far) planned for us next year but looking at a cruise on RCCL and possibly a day or 2 extra at US in 2017. And congrats on getting through grad school!

Thank you! I definitely will post a report if we end up switching. I can say that I've been on 3 RCCL cruises and enjoyed all of them. If I didn't go on a Disney cruise, it definitely would be RCCL!
