We're staying at Pop. I've packed a few breakfast items (Poptarts, coffee cakes, muffins). We're also on the DDP and plan to purchase a refillable mug. Do you think we'll need a frig? I just can't decide:confused3

If you want milk in the morning for your DD, that is not available with the refillable mugs. We used the fridge to also keep bottles of water to take with us to the parks. A case is much cheaper than spending $2.00 to $2.50 each for a bottle of water. Look into one of the Fridge Swaps on the Budget Board.

We couldn't be without a fridge or cooler, ice is free, while at Disney. We stay at least 10 nights and make a grocery stop before arriving. We never do the dining plan, we book room only and have AP's and we like to make picnic lunches for around the pool every day, plus we like cool beer during our stay. We never stay in anything but deluxe and they come with a fridge but before that took effect, we used a styrofoam cooler and did the ice zip lock thing to keep everything chilled. Pop and beer costs alot on property so we purchase our own and still have the mugs for a lemonade or hot chocolate.

We have used the second trash can in the vanity/sink area, put a clean trash bag in it with some ice, to keep beer/water/milk cold. It's a little redneck, but it's free and it works! :thumbsup2

Does the milk stay good? We are going in August and I'm really debating paying $10 a day at POP. We just want milk for cereal and water for the parks.

We bought a gallon of milk and it lasted the whole 10 days we were there:thumbsup2

We use the tub. When we feel the need to shower, we just jump in the pool. :goodvibes

You mean in the "redneck" "trash can cooler"? Sure it does, just keep new ice in it, there is an ice machine on every floor at the resort.

Another "trick" I have read here on the boards, is get a mylar balloon on your first day. What that does, is it "fakes out" the air conditioner and makes it think there is someone in the room, so it keeps it colder. Apparently they have sensors that detect motion and they don't run as much when no one is in the room. So...colder room = colder milk!!

Ha!! Why didn't I think of that?? I could keep lots more beers cold if use the tub! :lmao:

(Ok, fine, I'll admit this one too... my DH did actually use one of the sinks to keep the beer cold at POFQ, filled with ice, but we only did that till the fridge got nice and cold on the 2nd day...) :thumbsup2

We bought a collapsable cooler ($14) and use that with ice. Since it's cloth and collapsable, it folds up and fits in the suitcase for travel. It worked wonderful and we didn't have to pay all the extra for a fridge, we were there for 10 days.

I don't know that I could be without a fridge either. Mostly for the desserts that we are never hungy enough to eat in the Parks! They make great snacks for later or breakfasts for another day! :thumbsup2

Have you looked into any of the POP fridge swaps? I am hoping to try one this year.

No I haven't seen any on here. They used to have one on TGM but it is missing. Do you have any links to where is can find the thread?

We did a POP fridge swap on our last trip. It was very easy to do. It was a great way to save the daily fee. We picked the fridge up at luggage services and dropped it off at the same place. There are quite a few different swaps for POP. Check it out on the Budget Board. We didn't use the fridge much so I would have been disappointed if I paid for it.

Don't forget to put a hand towel over the top of the can. It keeps some of the cold inside the trashcan. Also works with the in-sink cooler method. If you have a newspaper, put a section on top of the hand towel for even more insulation.

Tip from my husband when he traveled a lot for business and needed some cold beer.

If you are driving down, I would pack a cooler. If you're flying, check out the Budget Board and see if you can find a "Fridge Swap" for the time you are there. To me $10 a night for those small dorm fridges they put in your room is ridiculous.

Got it!! Thanks!! :thumbsup2
I'll bet Mousekeeping has some really interesting stories of stuff they've seen, ya know?
