Opinions and thoughts on Disney Yacht club please...

Hello again,
After a bit of browsing I came across Disney Boat and Yacht club and was hoping those with experience of visiting or staying there could give me a bit more of an insight. I really like the idea of the mini water park, walking distance to Epcot and the Broadwalk and the boat service to the studios. I'm now thinking of booking for September 2011 in order to qualify for free dinning, I've never been at this time of year, hows the weather usually?

We have eaten there twice and the hotel grounds are very nice. The only thing I thought was it looked too busy around the pool - that was last August.

Great location and the interior is very nice.

We stayed at the beach Club half of the hotel last year as we prefer the themeing rather than the Yacht Club themeing. Service impeccable, location great, Stormalong bay good but a little crowded although there are quiet pools. Our room was beautiful and i would definitely stay there again!

It really is a great location and has some good restaurants, and the pool is a big plus.

I also prefer the Beach Club decor, but I'd happily stay at either.

Have you looked at the Boardwalk Inn? I personally think they have the nicest rooms, and wonderful views.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the hotels on the boardwalk they are all lovely and have been refurbished in the last 12 months. We booked the yacht club as it's meant to be the quietest and all the rooms have full balconies. There are a lot of rooms at the beach club that don't have balconies and this was important to us.

We stayed at the Beach Club for 3 weeks last year and are going back for 3 weeks next year - it was fantastic - being able to walk into Epcot especially for meals was priceless! The pool was amazing - you can walk to MGM - in my opinion it is the best Disney resort! I love the Poly and being on the monorail but the pool there is a letdown!

We booked the yacht club as it's meant to be the quietest and all the rooms have full balconies. There are a lot of rooms at the beach club that don't have balconies and this was important to us.

This was the reason we chose the Yacht Club over the Beach Club ~ I am always up first and really enjoyed my cup of tea in peace on the balcony. We did treat ourselves to a water view room and it didn't disappoint ~ we had a lovely view of Crescent Lake.

Stayed at yacht club last year, and we all loved it, it is quieter than beach club but feel that's only *** the reception area at beach club is where everyone gathers to wait for ressies at cape may. We were there in august and never felt pool area was over crowded as it's such a bug area, movies and smores on the beach is big hit with big kids and little ones, we also got upgraded from standard view to great view of boardwalk, definately my fave resort

I stayed at the Yacht Club last year - it was lovely! The rooms are a good size and were refurbished last year. We had a standard view room which was located at the back of the resort (near the bus stop) but it was nice and quiet.

I wasn't keen on Stormalong Bay, I found the pool quite dirty with leaves and I wasn't keen on the sand but it looked popular with kids!

For me the best thing was being able to walk to Epcot. It was lovely to be able to go for a break mid-afternoon then go back in the evening, only took about 10-15 mins to walk there. You can also walk to Hollywood Studios, that took about 20-30mins

I have never stayed at either (although I'm hoping to rectify that next year) but I would choose the Beach Club over the Yacht Club on the basis of theming alone. The Yacht Club appears to be more formal. However, as a PP has stated, if a balcony is important to you, the Yacht Club may be a safer bet. Stormalong Bay looks really great and is one of the pools on site that cannot be 'hopped' to (by DVC members) so should never be over capacity. From what I hear, they are very strict on checking key cards to enter the pool area too.

We stayed in 2007 for our silver wedding anniversary and were upgraded to concierge level, spoiled us rotten we want to go back in 2012 for our 30th anniversary so are now saving up!!!! Some pics on our trip report.

we've stayed at both the beach and yacht club and prefer the yacht club..

as other's have already stated the only difference is the balcony and theming..

we MUCH prefer the theming of the yacht club...

we also LOVE stormalong bay and that is the only reason we have ever stayed at either hotel - to be able to swim in the pool..

We are staying at the Yatch club this year. I choose it for the following reasons:

Most rooms have a full balacony as oppose to the Beach Club

I thought it would be quiteter on a night when sleeping. The Beach Club is always buzzing in the main foyer and probably appeals to families with young kids more due to the themeing. Last time at OKW, we had a very noisy family with young kids both next door and above us and when they came back late, they woke us up, screaming and carrying on due to being over tired.

The two hotels are connected.

The pool is great, but it is only a pool with a slide not a water park by any means. The part they call the lazy river isn't a proper lazy river, its a stretch of water linking the two pools. There is a sandy bottom to the pool too, which sometimes makes it look dirty, but it isn't.

I thought the AK pool was really dirty, until I realised it had been painted that way to make it look like a hollow where the animals drink from

Like others have said, the Boardwalk is a fab location and I have been wanting to stay here for years. It will be great being able to walk to Epcot and i imagine that this year, we will be in and out of Epcot a lot, with all those places to eat less than 20 mins from our door. For example the French Bakery.

We stayed and got married there in 2007. The rooms are great very spacious and the beds are nice and big. We where upgraded foc to a garden view room so we could see the gazebo which was really nice.

The YC steakhouse is a fantastic meal and have eaten there the last three trips the service it top notch!

Also love the captains grill for breakfast we eat there on our first day each time we visit.
