Surprise visit to Florida for my daughter... she will find out soon!

However we were giving timeshare from October 27 through Nov 3 and I have been watching airfare like a hawk! HOLY POOP IS IT EXPENSIVE THIS YEAR!! Normally we fly out of Manchester NH to Orlando on Southwest (no baggage fees and good experiences) but there prices are crazy and the flight times are bizarre for nonstop.

The break down is this: Southwest for 3 of us comes to $1,040.00 (no other fees) but AirTran comes to $823.00 with $20 baggage for each of us. It's a no brainer of course that it's a better deal BUT my questions are....

1. HOW IS AIRTRAN? GOOD, BAD OR UGLY?
2. DOES THAT SEEM LIKE A GOOD PRICE OR SHOULD I CONTINUE TO HOLD OUT AND HOPE FOR A BETTER PRICE?

I hate to book and it go down but I hate to not book and have them go up. Any and all opinions are welcomed!!!

The pricing seems high to me, but I can usually get <$150 RT pp from my home airport. Your airport may vary.

Personally, I'd seriously consider booking SW. Yes, it's $160 more (for all three), but if there is a 'sale', you can take advantage of the credit. Also, isn't that $20 AirTran fee each direction? In which case, AirTran is $940... only $100 difference from SW.

I don't like waiting until the last minute on airfare. I don't think you're going to see prices go down. Others will have a different opinion.

I don't really think the fare on airtran is all that bad. Couple of things to consider, would you really check 3 bags to less the cost of checking them all?

$275 r/t after taxes is pretty decent, prior to January that would have been advertised as about $220 per person. It is all about perspective.

We fly from Providence and I can't believe the SW prices this year. I've always booked with SW and never paid more than $250 round trip per person but this year right now I'm looking at a minimum $484 pp round trip!!!!! They didn't even have any flights at the promotion prices that were advertised recently. There are some cheaper flights on other airlines but there is no other airline that flies nonstop. We are going in Nov and like you, I don't know if I should wait any more to book our flights. :confused3
