Opinion of Cantina de San Angel?

Atmosphere is nice. We used to love it and always eat there when we were at Epcot, but the last year we didn't have such a good experience.

I would try it at least once though. Like I said, the atmosphere is nice.

We always eat TS in San Angel...try that! LOL

It is not horrible unless you order anything with chicken. They use dark fatty greasy grisly thigh meat and I DETEST that

The last time we ate there was a year and a half ago. 4 adults on the dining plan, so we all tried different things. None of us enjoyed the food and we left a lot on our plates. To be fair, we are all used to Tex-Mex, so that may be why we were dissappointed. The atmosphere is nice, though.:)

I've never eaten at the Cantina, only at San Angel Inn which I thought was disgusting. I've read on a lot of threads on the DIS where people have gotten sick after eating there. I don't think I'd even risk it after reading all the accounts of people getting sick.

You'd be better off eating somewhere else.

We really like it - it is one of the places we try to eat every time we go. Not saying it is perfect, but I have loved everything I've tried and it is a nice change of pace from burgers/chicken at other CS places. We also enjoy eating a late dinner and waiting for Illuminations from the patio seating area.

I've heard negative comments from some people that they prefer Taco Bell (cheaper and better). I love Taco Bell too, but the two places really can't be compared IMHO - two totally different styles.

my DBF liked it but I didn't. I had a wet burrito and I had never had one before so it could just be that I didn't like that particular entree. San Angel Inn is really good though! make an early ADR though if you want to watch Illuminations.

I was really hoping for some good mexican food..burritos and tacos! Thanks so much for the input, I'll have to think about this.

We got nachos on our way around the world (we HAD to eat something with each drink, it was our "rule" that day, because a Texan would just never eat Mexican food in FL otherwise!) - they were really gross and we threw most of it away.

Others seem to like it but since I get fabulous mexican at home, I have never gone back. I can't say no to Tangierine Cafe! =)

We eat there every trip...it's a nice break from the usual burgers/hotdogs/fries, etc. I usually get the Plato Combinacion, it has a little bit of everything. And the churros too! Very yummy.

We like it ok.. the food is fine, but definately not very "authentic". We enjoy sitting along the water and just enjoying some lighter fare. I also think the value here is decent too.

Don't mean to steal the thread but...Are there two San Angels? Which one is best for Illuminations? I have an ADR for a San Angel (as a newbie, not sure which) in hopes of watching Illuminations. I may have to cancel if it is not the right one. Help!

Don't expect anything gourmet and you will be fine. For me personally I absolutely love it, i've had the nachos and the combination platter and loved both, i just love the gooey mess that is chilli, salsa, and soured cream, throw some refried beans on and you're good to go. Its messy and yummy!
now as for San Angel Inn I definately felt ill and will never go back, didn't like the service, hated the meal, hated that it took so long for everything, and as you can tell I am not a fussy eater. I was so upset that I had given up my mexican counter service for that because frankly the Cantina food is so much nicer than San Angel!

There is the San Angel Inn which is inside of the Mexico Pavillion and is a Table Service Location with great atmosphere, but you can not see outside at this location.

Then there is the Cantina which is the counter service for Mexico and is right across the walkway from the Pavillion and has seating on the water. As far as the view for fireworks we have never sat here for them so am not sure?

The Cantina provides a nice break from the WDW counter service fare, but isn't anything special. I call it Taco Bell food at WDW prices. As others have said, don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed. It's decent enough though that I'd have no problem eating there again, on any trip.

We LOVE it...fresh change of pace! I make sure we hit it at least once on each of our trips.
