I appreciate the rec, but we have our hearts set on Northern Europe--especially Copenhagen and St. Petersburg. I am going to check out RCCL's prices, but I wonder how much lower it would need to be for me to change the booking.

I'm pretty sure both Princess and HAL do those itineraries if RCCL doesn't meet your needs.

How old are your kids? NCL's Breakaway is doing that itinerary in 2018 out of CPH. My teens love the Breakaway. I highly recommend the family oceanview rooms (with the purple accents). Huge bathroom, nice location, a curtain between the bunks/queens, and you could get it for less than $5K total for 9 nights.

My kids will be 7 and 9 on this cruise. The others cruising with us range from 11 to 8. I suggested RCCL, but they wanted Disney. Maybe they will change their minds when they see the prices. For such a port-intensive cruise, it's a lot of money. I don't know. Thankfully, there is no one "right" answer. I'm so very lucky to be able to go on vacations multiple times a year and to even be considering such an adventure.

I think I feel guilty b/c my family (out of 3 or 4 joining us on this trip) is the only family that has cruised before. I think I have some guilt gut about potentially talking them into such an expensive vacation and worry that it won't live up to expectations. What I feel like I am talking myself into doing is booking tomorrow, but then checking out RCCL's prices when they come out. NCL's itineraries don't work for us as well because we are doing land and cruising (extensions in Amsterdam and Copenhagen) and we may run out of vacation days! thanks!!!

I think I am going to jump ship and head to Princess. We did the 9-night Alaska with Disney before, and I don't think we would want anything less than the 9-night. If I am traveling that far from home (East Coast), I want to stay there as long as possible.
