We are headed to Disneyland in Oct and I wondered if they had a small park-opening ceremony with the characters in Disneyland. I know they did this when we went to Disney World at each park, but didnt know if it was also done in Disneyland and California Adventure.

Also, if it does take place, does anyone know how it works on Magic Mornings? Do they have the ceremony when the park opens at regular hours so one would have to go back to the gates to see the show or do the characters come out before Magic Morning hours start?

Thanks everyone for your help!! :goodvibes This board has been extremely awesome in helping plan this vacation!! I only wish I'd found it sooner!!

Thanks Karalee!:flower3:

i dont think so, they do have place in toontown but only some ppl can get in. buying FULL package from disney not just tickets and dinning

Nope, no morning park ceremonies. Although they did used to have someting at MS, but that's long gone.

On regular hour park days, you get into Mainstreet 30 minutes before opening. There is a rope at the far end. When the park opens you will hear "Welcome to our Family" song and then an announcement of the park now being open. I get chills everytime I hear it. But no, no welcome ceremony like at WDW. I don't think there's enough room between the gates and the railroad station to hold all the people.

They do a little countdown thing... no characters, just a cheerful looking elderly CM guy when we were there. "Good Morning, everyone!" and everybody choruses back and they tell you to answer louder... etc. They choose a family to "help," you get to go in front of the floral Mickey while the rest of us wait at the turnstiles to be let through, and they do a "10, 9, 8" and then they start letting you through the turnstiles.

They did this for magic morning and regular opening when we were there. MM, they allowed everybody in at about 6:50 a.m. and then stopped us at rope drop at the top of Main street until the stroke of 7 a.m.

We were actually asked to be the "opening family" on our second MM. But this was our morning to run for Nemo, and we were determined to do it. Now I wished I'd said yes; Nemo wasn't worth the fuss! Funny thing was, the family that WAS chosen, from Wisconsin, the mom posted on here about it a few weeks later! and I was like, "HEY! I saw you, and that was almost MY family!"

When i was there one morning, they had the mickey band play at the front of the castle then walk up main street. It was alittle after opening and all the way at the castle. But it had the charecters dancing then Mickey and the band walked up main street (don't remember of goofy adn them did) I don't know if its something do every morning but they did that when i was there

There is (or was at least was very recently) a morning band set, which supposedly happens five days a week at around 10:00. Alice and the Mad Hatter are regulars, but others often appear. Here is an example.

Wow...just reading the words "Welcome to our Family" brought tears to the back of my eyes! :rolleyes1 That gives me a quick flashback, I can't wait until November!

I think your'e right, as well...I just don't think there is enough room to kick off the day the way it does in WDW.

Thanks everyone for your feedback!!! :flower3: I appreciate it so much! How fun that they choose a family (though I agree that it's hard to make choices on what to do and what to miss) and the "Welcome To Our Family" gave me chills too when I read it! This info will be great to use when planning to get to the parks early! What would I do without this board and all of you???!!! :worship: Thanks again all!
