Has anyone done the open house tour by phone? I was thinking of asking a couple friends to do it so I can get the $50 referral gift card, but first I would like to know what's involved. How long does it take? Do they keep calling? I know the friends are somewhat interested but I don't want them to be getting phone calls for the next 10 years asking them to buy.

My mother-in-law just did this for me. She said the call took about 20 minutes. My MIL loves to talk so that could have added some time. She said it was very informative and no pressure at all. He said he would send her the DVC book and DVD and would call her in a week. He is supposed to call tuesday. That was it. We received a call from our guide thanking us for the referral but no mention of the $50 gift card. I didn't talk to him though so i wasn't able to ask about the card. I'm hoping to receive it in the next couple of days...we'll see. I'm planning on asking another friend to do it next week.

I can't find the card we got in the mail about this. I have a friend who wants to do the phone call tour. Do I have to call my guide? Or was there a specific number to call? Thanks!

if you do this phone tour don't they have to buy before you get the $50 gift card? :confused3

Why would Disney give $50 gift cards out just for taking the tour by phone and not buying in?

If not I can see this a little money maker to be abused.

But I also haven't heard of this practice.

Here's what the mailing I got says:

"Just give the attached referral cards to your closest mateys and buccaneers. Then, ask them to visit dvcsecret.com or call 866-382-3571 to discover the valuable benefits of Membership during an Open House Tour.

Shortly after each friend completes an Open House Tour by phone or in person, a Disney Gift Card will sail your way.

Of course, if your referral becomes a member of Disney Vacation Club, you may be eligible for additional Sharing the Magic Rewards."

The offer expires on October 20th, 2006.

I have asked some interested parties to take the tour. However, I received the info in the mail and then some friends were vacationing and used our name as their referal when they toured onsite. They haven't purchased yet, but are planning to in March. We didn't get the $50 this way. And these are the ones that will probably truly buy in. I wonder if I call and ask about it if they will give us the credit.
