I don't do kindle or streaming. I don't really watch movies or TV very much. I only signed up to get free shipping during the holidays, and stupidly forgot to cancel.

I rarely have things shipped so I guess I'm just one of the rubes who fell for the trial offer and now has to pay .

Maybe I'm overlooking some good perks, though. If you love Prime, tell me how you use it that makes it worthwhile to you!

If you haven't used any of the services since they charged your card you should be able to get it refunded (happened to me too, the date was during Christmas, and we were traveling). Just log in to your account and look for a link to cancel.

I use it for streaming music and movies, and shipping.

If you really don't think you'll use it, you can ask to cancel it, especially if you haven't used the service since you paid. Their customer service is great.

I order so much from Amazon, with prime. I like the fact that I can get pet food (Royal Canin), delivered to my door cheaper than locally. I have bought name brand shoes, clothing, cheaper than other online sites. I like the fact that when I order product, it's there in two days. I also stream movies, and listen to music through prime.

I do most of my shopping on Amazon Prime anymore. It is worth it in just everyday items that they sell cheaper. I buy lots of books, pet foods etc. I find myself checking Amazon first before I buy anything.

So do I. It's also great for gifts for family that lives out of town. Not only are the prices cheaper than if I went to a local store, I can ship the gift for free.

We have the Fire TV Stick (DH won it at work) and we have been watching a lot through Prime Instant Video. We also have Netflix.

Amazon is my go to online store for almost anything. I do some price checking but in most instances Amazon works out to be a better deal.

I use their subscribe & save for things like cat food, bath products, razor blades, etc. I did almost all of my Christmas shopping there and saved a ton off list prices...that alone paid for the membership fee. I love 2 day shipping! We ordered a big flat screen tv for $300 less than a store, less expensive warranty and it shipped for free!! Plus they have good service. The handful of times I had an issue with an order it was corrected easily. And they have a decent TV/movie library for streaming.

I know people who share their prime accounts so it takes the bite out of the fee.

Of course, none of this really matters if you don't really shop online and are not interested in streaming.

You can still cancel and get a refund, if you haven't used it. Even if you have used it, if it is within 3 days, you can get a partial refund. Per Amazon:

Membership Cancellation

You may cancel your Prime membership any time by visiting Your Account and adjusting your membership settings. If you cancel within 3 business days of signing up for or converting from a free trial to a paid membership, we will refund your full membership fee. We may charge you (or withhold from your refund) our regular prices for Prime benefits used by you and your account during this 3-business day period. If you cancel at any other time, we will refund your full membership fee only if you and your account has not made any eligible purchases or taken advantage of Prime benefits.

yes..we were able to cancel once, but then we did the trial again and liked it so decided to keep it that time. we have 4 in our family so we just each pitched in the $20 or whatever it was which makes it really worth it individually :thumbsup2

If you don't like to shop online and aren't interested in streaming tv/movies, there really isn't much for you in a Prime membership. Maybe take a look at Prime Pantry and see if you'd benefit from those services (although there is still a $5.00/box shipping fee)...or in certain areas there is Amazon Fresh which I don't have in my area so I'm not sure if it requires Prime or not.

Maybe you haven't looked at the types of items you may be able to get for less money on Amazon...

Here are the last several items I've ordered (which probably will seem totally random):

Lodge Cast-Iron Aebleskiver Pan
Silicone Baking Cups
Kindle Paperwhite
Whey Protein Powder
Biodegradable Dog Poop Bags
Guardians of the Galaxy 3D/Bluray/Digital
Legos/Books/Board Games for Christmas gifts
Griot's Garage Car Paint Sealant
Nut Milk Bag
Stainless Measuring Spoons/Cups
Lavatools Digital Kitchen Thermometer
Nosefrida (baby shower gift)
Digital Bathroom Scale

...Those are some of the items just since September. :) And, everything I purchased here was less expensive than purchasing elsewhere (I always check).

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. I think I will go ahead and keep the membership. It sounds interesting to order some of those things mentioned; I never thought of ordering pet food, for instance. Since the shipping is free, it sounds like I might adjust my shopping patterns and not have to drive around for some of the stuff I buy.

I did buy a fire stick when I read about the $19 deal on this forum, but I gave it to my son for Christmas. Now I sort of wish I'd kept it :rotfl:

I use the subscribe and save feature a lot. Pet food, diapers, wipes, popcorn, etc.

When I am making purchases out and about (except for clothes) I always scan the bar code with the amazon app on my phone and pull it up to see if it is cheaper. If it is, I order it right there through the app and it is at my house in 2 days. I save sooooo much money on "stuff".

We use the prime streaming here and there for movies and shows. I do borrow books occasionally. Prime members get early access to a lot of lightning deals during the holidays. We actually hated our Kindle Fire and sold it (I just have a regular Kindle Reader that I love) but we still use a lot of the prime services on other devices.

I love Prime!

Was there life before Amazon Prime? I will occasionally stream music and my husband and teen stream TV/Movies quite a bit. I've been known to binge watch a series or two. But even without that Prime is worth it IMO. Just in the last week I ordered four random things, an EHD, wireless range extender, HDMI cables and a bracket to hang a TV. I could have gone to Best Buy but it was so much more convenient to drop them in my cart and have them show up two days later, especially since I needed them at different times. Saved me at least two trips out of my way and were cheaper. My kids birthday is Nov 30 and with Christmas right after, the $99 is worth it for that time frame alone. I also picked out gifts and had them sent straight from Amazon to the recipients. Oh and if you can't find it in your area it's almost guaranteed you can find it on Amazon. Worth it!

How do you scan the barcode I have the app and can't find it

I have the iphone app. In the search bar at the top, on the right hand side there is a little bar code. Press that and it pulls up the scanner feature. I use it all the time :thumbsup2

Oldest DD and I are full-time college students. So, we had Prime for students free for 6 months. I love the free 2-day shipping. I've used it so much that I'm renewing next month (which is actually upgrading it to full Prime membership) for $49. DD will not be renewing hers because it doesn't make sense for us both to have it until she moves out.

I'm an avid reader, and I'm looking forward to the Kindle unlimited. We cut our cable in October, and want to add Amazon Instant Prime to our streaming services (we already use Netflix and Hulu). Planning to make use of Prime Pantry, too for household cleaning supplies. Plus the free shipping, and it's worthwhile for us.

Found it thank you

I only use my Prime membership for shopping. The free streaming library isn't that great IMO, and while I use my kindle daily, I use it for other content.

Think about the cost of buying at a store (gas, wear on car, add-on items, inevitable coffee stop, your time) vs. $99/year.

$99/year is $8.25/month. It doesn't take too many trips avoided per month to make up the $8.25.

The ease of Christmas shopping alone made it worth while for me.

It probably depends on how much of a minimalist you are whether it is worth it for you. Do you buy anything besides groceries?

I actually didn't renew this year. The 2 day shipping has degraded in my area. Amazon uses Lasership for most 2 day shipments. They consistently marked something as delivered (to make the 2 day deliver timeline) when they hadn't delivered. Then actually delivered a day or 2 later. (And always after 9pm with no doorbell ring). It made prime pretty useless since I would downgrade shipping to get items delivered by the USPS since my mailman is excellent. I contacted Amazon CS many times about the tricks Lasership was doing but I don't think they understood (happens when you outsource CS to outside the US). Too much frustration for me.
