What's this? Welcome to the Oogie Boogie October Exercise Challenge! In honor of Halloween, our theme is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

If you’re returning, we’re excited to have you back! If you’re new, welcome to the team! Here’s how it works: you choose a time goal and then post minutes toward that goal as you exercise. (You can post daily or catch up when you can.) You decide what movement counts towards your goal, which can be a set monthly number or calculated based on a target number of minutes per day.

Since October has 31 days, here are some common conversions:

10 minutes/day = 310
15 minutes/day = 465
20 minutes/day = 620
30 minutes/day = 930
45 minutes/day = 1395
1 hour/day = 1860

One of the special motivations of our Disney challenge is color changing! Page one will be updated with individual and team color changes as we make more and more progress. This month, we have:

Sally Blue 10%
Ghost Dog Zero Orange 25%
Mayor of Halloween Town Purple 50%
Jack Skellington Grey 75%
Sandy Claws Red 90%
Oogie Boogie Green 100%

We’re officially starting this challenge on October 1, but if you don’t find this thread until later in the month, you’re still welcome to join!! Just post your goal and I’ll add you to the list. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, and check out old threads to see what’s been going on.

    Thanks for hosting

Can I have steps challenge instead of minutes please? 500 000 steps? I would report in % complete when adding my steps
Unfortunately I don't know of a way to integrate steps with our team totals. If you want to participate just for accountability, I don't mind, but to be part of the team, there would have to be some sort of conversion ratio. (Such as 2 steps per second/120 steps per minute or 3 steps per second/180 steps per minute.)

Ok put it as 1860. I will be converting it and posting both, minutes and steps but please track the minutes only to fit in with the rest of the group

It's October 1, and time to enter The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Let's start with the basics: The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-action animated film released in October 1993. It follows the adventures of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, as, bored with Halloween, he discovers (and tries to co-opt) Christmas. The film was released under Touchstone Pictures, rather than the Disney label, because executives were concerned it would be too dark and scary for kids.
