Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party 2024

Dinner res in the park or.?
Not sure I would bother if off property unless special occasion, going to lose a lot of time in the short hours of the party.

Seconding this. Yes, you can leave and re-enter. But, the 5 hours of the party move FAST and you may have regrets leaving for a table service dinner for that long. (At least I would!) If you want to try and see everything that OBB has to offer, you're going to want that time back.

I ate before the party started and still had a hard time squeezing in everything that I wanted to do! (I really think it should be a 6 hour party at LEAST. 5 is not enough.)

109 is the all time record high in Anaheim, so id say you were there on a really rare occurrence to get 107, especially in the Fall. I'd say it probably doesn't break triple digits 90% of the time in July/Aug, much less in Sept/Oct... and maybe more humid than Phoenix, but nothing compared to Orlando, or were you talking about Orlando?
No, never been to Florida! I must pick bad dates to visit for Halloween! It’s usually humid!

Napa Rose Chef's Counter. I bought party tickets way back when they went on sale, obviously way before I knew my plans for sure. My friend lands at SNA at about 2pm and I figure she'll be at the DLH to meet me by about 2:45 or 3pm. My thought was to head into the party for a bit, try to do one or two attractions, I know mix in time is murder. Then step into the Grand and have dinner. Then return into the party for probably 90 minutes to 2 hours... the party ends at 11pm, right?

I'm not too terribly worried since my friend and I are meeting my old coworker and his fiancé Tue night to do OBB, which will JUST be focused on the party. Then ironically Wed night I was ALSO able to get Napa Rose Chef's Counter... so my friend and I *might* do that again...

So I have options... I originally was just going to skip OBB on Sunday night, but since I have the tickets already, might as well head in for a bit, even if it's only three hours out of the whole night. Halloween mood, maybe close out the night with the late parade if my friend doesn't mind seeing it twice (Tue I'll do the dessert party with the parade).

Oh, we're in a different tax bracket. 😂 I was approaching it as if it was someone who only had tickets for one night of OBB. As someone who is in the "can only afford to go one night" bracket, I want to maximize my 5 hours as best I can.

So, you do you. And yes, party ends at 11, re-entry is allowed. And enjoy!

Single adult so travel to Disney is "cheaper" in the sense that I'm not buying a number of kids tickets or feeding them, or buying merch. So just buying one of everything helps stretch things a bit, lol. Unless I can talk a friend into joining me, which I'm not always successful with!

Personally for me, a Disney trip now is just as much a nice dinner at Napa Rose, drinks at Trader Sam's, etc just as much as being in the parks. You certainly can do Disney as an adult and have just as much fun as a kid, lol

Previous years I've wanted to do Chef's Counter again after doing it once on my trip but it's always booked up and dang near impossible (unless you get super lucky with someone cancelling) to get a last minute reservation. So this year when I got lucky right away with two of my nights being open, I jumped on it for the heck of it, lol. I'm also a vegetarian so it's a little rare to get some of the unique dining experiences, and Andrew Sutton and team over at the Chef's Counter always makes a very special and unique menu that I'm able to enjoy fully without "can you hold this or that please."

I'm also too afraid to sell the OBB tickets even to just a close friend because I don't know how Disney works and I don't want the mouse mad, lol

Oh, yep all good. As long as you understand what were talking about, it sounds like you understand very well. :)
Chefs table is a must, so I get the dilemma.

It is one of my favorite things down there and often my most stressful to book, so I'm feeling good and relaxed this year, lol

I'd be pretty bummed to pop in pre-party when it's crowded and hot, then head out just when the good stuff was getting started. Have you considered donating your tickets to CHOC or someone who was unable to get tickets who might be thrilled at the chance to attend OBB?

Does anyone know when Genie Plus times stop for the day of event? Like I assume you can't get times after 6 PM the day of the event

Also can you start lining up for a character or treat trail before the event starts?

My idea is basically come back to DCA and use a Genie Plus/LL pass for GOTG and get some food then wait in line for Oggie Boogie or one of the characters before the event starts.

I debated that... I suspect I'll try to move the reservation forward to 5pm and then we should have ~8pm to 11pm. BUT, if for some reason I can't move it, it's nice to know if we can head in and out etc.

Cast Member Preview was last night and the official treat trail list of characters is going around, with their locations:

Agatha Harkness (Ancient Sanctum)
Dr. Doofenschmirtz (Disney Jr. Theater)
Ernesto de la Cruz (Hyperion Theater Queue)
Hades (Hollywood Backlot Stage)
Judge Doom (behind Soarin')
Madam Mim (Boutiful Valley Hideaway)
Oogie Boogie (Animation Lobby)
Sid from Toy Story (Pixar Bandstand)
Yokai (San Fransokyo Square)

I'm a little disappointed they got rid of Mother Gothel and kept Yokai (who looked cool but did nothing), but ah well, I'll spend most of my time at Ernesto anyway. (I did just see that Mother Gothel took Hades' spot in the parade at least!) I believe the Meet and Greets have stayed the same as 2023, but cannot fully verify that. I'm sure there will be plenty of reports from guests starting tomorrow night!

I'm hoping for different Carthay Circle characters from last year. It would be cool to get a few new villains. Seems like there are a lot of possibilities that aren't represented elsewhere. Bowler Hat Guy, Hyenas, Honest John, Gideon, Radcliffe, Yzma, Big Bad Wolf, Pain, Panic... etc.

I have a dream buried deep in the depths of my psyche.. An underused, underappreciated, underhanded villain. THE UNDERMINER!!! Unlikely, but I definitely think Disney should make this happen. NOTHING is beneath him!

PS. As long as I'm wishing, Zombie Captain America needs to creep around Avengers Campus again.

So excited that we’re getting closer! I’m going to be watching all the spoilers so I can plan out my trip! This is my first OBB. Random Q: Do they give you a treat bag for the trails or should we plan to bring our own?

Bring your own. The one they give is ridiculously small for the amount of candy/treats you’ll get, even if you don’t go to every treat trail.

At least some cast members wouldn't place candy into our larger bag last year. So, we used their bags, and frequently dumped the treats into a larger bag ourselves.
