Unless you want the seats and desserts the package isn’t really necessary to view the parade.

I feel like they’ve really toned down on the merch offerings for the party. That being said I’ve never had an issue getting what I’ve wanted. I like to get an OBB pin every year so I’m not 100% sure if shirts are harder to get. I honestly haven’t liked and of designs from the past few years!

Honestly, we found that if you wait for the second parade that it is very easy to find a spot to watch it without being crowded at all. That's what we are going to do this year.

I heard that sometimes the horse for the headless horseman has acted up a bit, so at the second parade the horseman doesn't always come out. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

It has happened that the Horseman didn't ride, yes. Seemed mostly a weather thing. Happened at both first and second parade for me personally, I can't say I noticed posts about it happening at the second parade more often.

Perhaps they don't send the horse out during weather in case the asphalt is wet because it is shod and it can be slick. I was impressed with how well that horse we watched in 2021 handled all of the crowds. If my memory serves me right, I believe the cast member said he was just a 4-year-old gelding which goes to show how well he was trained. It was also good to see that Disney set that horse up for success by sending the headless horseman out well in advance of the parade when it wasn't so noisy and without the floats behind him to distract or spook him. The horse was my mom's favorite part and we really look forward to seeing that part again this year. We might have to watch both times at the first parade and the second!

Does anyone have recommendations on when the best time is to get in line for Villian's Grove? Is there a time that you have found the line is shorter? We missed going through it when we went in 2021 because I thought the event closed an hour later, so that is our top priority this year to make sure we go through it. Just wondering what the optimal time is to get in line so that we don't miss it this year!

The horse was my mom's favorite part and we really look forward to seeing that part again this year.

In the past we were able to see these beauties in their barn/stalls at the campground.

I've heard (but not tested it) that the prime time to go is during one of the parades. When I went last year I went after the second parade was already over and the line looked long-ish, but it went quickly. So unless you want to see the parade twice, I recommend going during the parade that you AREN'T seeing.

Disney takes the welfare of their animals very seriously. If it would be in the best interest of the horse to skip a performance, they will skip it and wait to see how things go for the next parade.

It could act up for the first parade and miss that one as well .but if that happens you have the option to watch the 2nd parade

I can't tell you I prefer a 4 Cheese Pizza over a 3 Cheese Pizza.

Both parades have their own unique elements. WDW feels bigger, but that is partly because you can't exactly compare Main Street to some of the curved path that they have to work with in DCA, they simply can't do some of the things WDW can do.

I would love them both and would not go "it's okay to skip, you have seen the other" on either one.

Hey there! My friends and I have been attending OBB for the past several years. We usually watch the second parade, since it's less crowded. We've never missed the headless horseman in all the years we've gone. I'm assuming it's pretty rare that the horse gets pulled out of the parade. We've just never experienced it first hand.

It will more than likely be warm! I actually feel bad for some people who go all out because they must be melting!

If you mean you are going to the first Oogie Boogie on August 25 you may want to bring a 2nd option because it will be warm to boiling that day.

This is so funny - as Canadians we definitely typically plan Halloween costumes around snowsuits and winter jackets and toques. Don't think I've ever had to worry about being too hot in costume at a Halloween event before. Hahahaha

I went last year at the end of Sept and my son was dressed as a Jedi .he changed at 6pm as it was to hot before and took off his cloak a few times as he was warm .late Aug early Sept could be to hot until the sun has gone down for the day
