Has anybody used this to get a Disney World ticket besides those offered on the Airmiles website? Ideally, I'd like to get a 4 day ticket as that is all my family ever does. Plus, in theory, it should be fewer redemption miles.

Sounds interesting, report back if you do go ahead with it. There are a number of ONYX members here who would be interested in a deal.

interesting idea that I hadn't considered! Please do report back, OP--I would pay extra miles for PH tickets if it's an option!

This would be great...especially if you could purchase the Canadian Resident tickets this way up until May 20th, when Disney extended it until. Make sure you let us know how it works out!

hey buyerbrad, just curious if you've gotten anywhere with air miles trying this approach. i hope you've had a good experience :)

update time! I put in a request for the air miles cost of 2 adult 7-day PH tickets. The quote is 10125 miles--this seems wicked high to me, especially since the item description does mention the Canadian discount.

To compare, to buy 2 adult 7-day base tickets through air miles right now is 6500 miles. so 3625 to add PH. That's more than a third base ticket!

So I'm not sure what I'm going to do right now. I'm not sure I can earn enough for the two tickets before May, and I'm not sure the PH addition is worth it. But we've also never travelled without them before. So many things to mull over, but ultimately from my experience I'm not sure its worth the miles to use personal shopper for park tickets...

OUCH! If you plunk all of this information (copy and paste your above post) into the Airmiles Alert thread I'm sure someone who is better at AM math than i am (gag, i suck at this!) will be able to tell you exactly the dollar value they have assigned to this. I would venture you could add the PH on-site for less but that adds another level of confusing math to the mix ... Disney Math :teacher:

OK so a quick check to the AM page and to buy 10125AM would cost the equivalent of approx $3037.50 .. 2500am= $750 x 4 =$3000 and 100am =$30 and the last 25 @ .30each= $7.50 I think I did that right :) Does that sound about right for pricing or is it off?

I did an alternative version of AM math over on the Airmiles Alert thread using the 95AM can be redeemed for $10. Take a look.

Basically you are looking at over $300 in airmiles value to add Park Hoppers which indicates one of two things, Airmiles is charging way too much OR, airmiles has to charge more because they are losing the discounted value of the Canadian ticket when they upgrade it. People have been worrying about losing their discount value when considering adding PH's or days to their Canadian discounted tickets, but there's been no confirmation yet.

Here is what you can do. Use your tickets the first day, get in the park. Know what the cost of a 7 day pass is and the difference to add PH. I think its about $80. Then on your way out hit guest services and ask to add the PH. If its more than that then decide on if its worth it or not. For us we are a one park one day family. We tried hopping when we had AP, but over the course of 8 days, we maybe switched parks 2.
If your some that like to head to Epcot for dinner each night, then the hopper is worth it.
|Good luck

thanks to you all! I think all the different ways you've figured out the math confirms that 5000 miles per 7-day hopper is a lot. I think I'm going to take ottawamom's advice over on the AM thread and just keep saving for now. The base tickets through disney right now seem pretty reasonable, and I've already ordered one set. It seems like a good idea to stock up on tickets now, since the price is going to jump so dramatically when the discounted ticket sale ends.

We've had hoppers every trip we've taken, and we always use them (with a 7-day pass, we usually hop 5 or 6 days). Some of the reasons will be different in the future (later hours at AK), but some will stay the same (wanting to see both nighttime shows at HS but not particularly wanting to spend 2 full days in the park). Lots to think about!

Your Personal Shopper,

That's interesting. Last summer (before all the discounts) I got a 7 day Base Adult ticket for 3775AM for comparison purposes. They should be able to take advantage of the Canadian Discount offer at this stage the value of a Cdn offer ticket is $259.60US or $350Cdn. They've added on a premium of $60 to the ticket. You're not out of pocket any cash but you are paying a premium.

The 5 day Canadian Offer Adult ticket is only 2950 AM so 3950 for one less day seems kind of steep.

They responded with:

Yes, you are right the price in our catalogue on airmiles.ca is cheaper. We have certain products that we get a discount from Disney on which you can find on our website. For all other products, we source these at the retail price.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great long weekend,

I responded with:

The retail price on the 4 day ticket currently has a 25% percent discount. You discounted the 5 and 7 day passes by 25% when they went on sale and I was hoping the same was possible for the 4 day passes.

They don't seem very smart?
