ONYD!! We celebrate 15 years of Magic! Dining Report with lots of pics! updated 8/30

OYSD! :rotfl:

(oh yes she did!!!!)

Can't wait to read more! Are you going to do a trip report?

My and DH were laughing so hard at your post! :rotfl:

In answer to your question, I don't know if I am going to do a trip report. I want to, but between my two boys and finishing my RN, I am a busy girl! Not too busy to write my dining report though!:goodvibes

Glad you had a great trip. DH and I try to get away for a long weekend once a year without the little ones. This first time is the hardest, next time....not so much! We're headed out in 18 days for our 13th anniversary trip. Do not have an ADR for Jiko and it's the one place I'm still wondering if we should do....

There just arn't enough days to do all the dinners we want..guess we'll have to do another trip next year!;)

I know what you mean. It's going to take a ton of effort on my part to write mine. And by ton of effort I mean nightly cocktails and a babysitter.

If you do write one, you'll already have a following. Hurry up and post more dining reviews. We leave in 6 weeks, girl!

Love the Jiko review and photos. I can't wait until we are there in Feb! Look forward to the rest of your reviews.:thumbsup2

Ohhhhhhhh…mannnnnnnnnn…I’m still dreaming about that Swahili Curry Shrimp at Jiko. The flavors were amazing. The shrimp were fresh, large and tender. The coconut rice was a perfect balance of sweet Yin to the curry Yang. The spices certainly did not over power it. Two thumbs up for me!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

And as far as the ostrich appetizer, I would of thought it was good beef if I didn't see the poor bird before we ate her...

JUST KIDDIN'!!!
:rotfl2:

Sounds like great reviews! Can't wait to read more! Me and DH and family will be there next month celbrating our 15th anniversary also. Congrats to you both on your 15 years! :cheer2:

Whoa, sorry this took me so long to get back to my review. Classes started on Monday and I fell right back into the giant, hot, stinking cauldron that is nursing school!

OK, where did I leave off?

The first breakfast of the trip: We decided to do in-room dining. (Just make sure your order is hanging on your door knob by 3 am). So around 8:15am they knocked on our door and delivered this.....

DH ordered the Safari Breakfast - two eggs, over easy, served with breakfast potatoes biscuits and sausage.
I ordered the Cinnamon and Raisin French Toast with syrup and butter and a side of bacon.
We also got a pot of coffee and passion fruit, orange and guava blend juice.

I have to say the breakfast was amazing! DH loved the fact that the breakfast sausage were proper english style, plump and juicy, not like some of the shrived up american ones you can sometimes encounter. I liked the fact that his meal came with biscuits(mine did not) and they sent us a whole basket full! My french toast was some of the best ever! It was loaded with both golden and regular raisins, with just a hint of cinnamon and lightly dusted with sugar, not over powering at all. And the syrup was warm, just the way I like it! The bacon was crisp, but not too crisp. What I like to do with bacon is make a "bacon butty". This method was taught to me by my brother-in-law, who hails from Leicestershire, England. First you take a biscuit (an american biscuit, not to be confused with the British biscuit, which is really a cookie, but I digress...) So first you take the biscuit, second you cut it in half, third you spread with butter, next add bacon, and eat like a sandwich. Lastly, you moan with pleasure because of the sinfulness of said "bacon butty"!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the juice, the passion, orange, guava juice. This is actually the same as the Lilikoi Juice of Kona Cafe fame! I was a happy girl!

Seriously folks, what is better than eating the afore mentioned breakfast while sitting here.....watching this......

We were really overwhelmed by our in-room dining experience!!! From the service we received from the lovely gentleman who delivered it, to the exquisite quality of the food, to the gorgeous view of the animals, we give this dining experience :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 !!!! I would highly recommend this to anyone staying at AKL!

Coming soon, we celebrate our anniversary at Narcoossee's, complete with a custom ordered cake!!!!:cloud9:

Thanks for the in room dining review, that really seals the deal for me on my upcoming trip!

Sounds wonderful! I love the juice at Boma, so I assume it's the same that you got :goodvibes
