For all Ontario Residents that want to apply for the Enhanced Driver's Licence if you have changed your last name (different on your Birth Certificate) you will have to provide supporting documentation for the interview.

If you have married and taken your husband's name you will need a CERTIFIED copy of your Marriage Certificate for the interview. If you do not have CERTIFIED copy you will not qualify. This option is only $40.00 for 5 years in addition to the cost of your regular driver's licence fee.

The Enhanced Driver's Licence is valid for land/water travel (no good for flying).

My married daughter has applied for her Ontario Enhanced Driver's Licence and fortunately had a CERTIFIED copy of her marriage certificate for the interview process. She has also applied for a PASSPORT.

I phoned Disney Cruise Lines yesterday and asked what ID is accepted for Canadians wishing to cruise, and I was told a VALID PASSPORT OR A VALID ENHANCED DRIVER'S LICENCE. No other travel documentation is accepted on Disney Carribean and Bahama cruises. Your NEXUS card will not work on a DISNEY CRUISE.

I also asked what travel documentation would be accepted for my 3 year old grandson and was told a VALID passport.

UPDATE

Her Ontario Enhanced Driver's Licence arrived in today's mail. She interviewed at Kingston on 13 July 2009, so approximately one month.
