DH were just having this conversation last night on our way to eat at Olive Garden...

A couple of years ago my niece and nephew went to WDW for a weekend with their other aunt. Both nights they ate dinner at Olive Garden.
Now, we love the Olive Garden----at home. Why would I eat there in Orlando?

Both Dh and I agree that when we are at WDW, one of the most fun things about going is trying new restaurants there. Why eat at a chain restaurant that you can eat at anywhere???

Well-I agree!!
But I suspect you'll find a host of others who don't, for one reason or another.

I also agree that one of the pleasures of WDW is trying their great variety of restaurants. Many will say that they cost too much, but you are also paying for the convenience of not having to leave the resort. Someone posted yesterday about the cost and inconvenience of getting to your car, leaving WDW to drive to a restaurant, drive back, etc. To me it's a lot of waste of valuable time. We really enjoy eating at WDW and find that it adds to the overall "magic" of being there. Why anyone would want to eat in a chain restaurant in Orlando that they have in their own home towns I cannot explain.
There are a lot of different views on this. One thing I will never forget is a number of years ago eating at Great Adventure in New Jersey......it was HORRIBLE BEYONE BELIEF.....AND COSTLY.
I can honestly say I have never had really bad food at WDW. Most of the restaurants are at least good, some really good. We may find that we do not like a particular restaurant after trying it, but the fun is to first try it!

When planning a trip to Disney one of the first things I start to think about is all the great restaurants we get to eat at. ;) So, I do agree that dining in WDW is a big part of the experience.

We always eat at our favorite DW restaurants and always try a couple of new ones but we also eat off site if there are not any other places we want to do on property. We eat at places that we do not have in our area and thus we get the 'adventure' as well. Not always a good adventure, on or off property. We get a pleasant surprise sometimes also. Thank you to everyone who posts their experiences and gives you much FOOD for thought.

I did not think about the fact that some people do not have a lot of restaurants in their area. I would recommend Macaroni Grill or the Melting Pot, but we have Bahama Breeze in our area and it is no big deal.
