I made FW reservation last weekend for Christmas 2010 and looking for thoughts on those who normally camped but opted for a condo/house for larger group (4 A/3K). The in-laws are coming and I am planning for a family sized tent on the site as well as our camper.

The wife and DMiL and two kids in the camper and DFiL, I and 1 kid in the tent with gear. Has anybody stayed offsite in a condo, I know you lose the onsite privilege early/late entry and parking… and all the fun stuff at FW. Are there other trade offs for or against? All thoughts are welcome.

If your in-laws have camped before and will be okay with camping, I can't imagine enjoying a condo as much as FW. FW would just be a more relaxing vacation.

They have camped. My In laws rock. I couldn't imagine having better ones.
They are coming from WY.

The real key to me is Christmas. I would not give up Christmas at FW for anything. Some of the rental homes I have seen are fabulous. They come complete with pools, spas, game rooms with pool tables, ping pong, video and pinball, large screen TVs. But Christmas at the fort is such a special time of year with all the campsites decorated. Being on site also allows members of your group to come and go as you please with Disney transportation. Everyone is not stuck together tied to rental cars and the traffic woes of Orlando. Any other time of the year I could be tempted especially in the rain and heat of summer but never Christmas. :santa:
