Only Disney magic saved us from.... {May 2012 TR} (UPDATED 10/19)

Enjoyed the update. :) We ate at CMs for breakfast two years ago, and we loved it. Sorry Donald wasn't very sociable that morning.

I seriously want a Mickey waffle now!

I seriously love that cheesy potato casserole! Any time we talk about Disney food, my mom and I always bring them up as our fave breakfast!

Haha, I was actually going to say Chef Mickey's BECAUSE MHTeacher already guessed Kona! But then I was like, wait, they don't serve lunch, right? I didn't want to look like a bad DISer for now knowing, haha.

HOLD UP. They have BISCUITS AND GRAVY?!? Oh man, that looks delicious! I think I'm supposed to be a Southern girl. That breakfast food really looks so good to have for lunch! I'm not much for tons of breakfast food for breakfast. In fact, I'd prefer all that stuff for dinner and all the dinner stuff for breakfast! I could definitely eat the plates you guys had what with the biscuits and gravy, the eggs, the potatoes/hash brown, sausage, and the fruit. SERIOUSLY, I'm totally drooling now!

BTW, I totally love your dresses. So perfect for a day at the parks! I have been eyeing dresses like that at Target. I hope to get some when they go on sale.

Boo to that Donald. Was he like that with the other tables too? I don't get why the CM didn't just get into it. I mean, such a little something could make a difference in someone's day! What if someone was ONLY looking forward to interacting with Donald?!

A wrench in your plans? Oh, no! You guys sure are brave for attempting a full day until 3am at MK :thumbsup2

Uh Oh - A huge hiccup is not good. At All!

But getting back to your ADR. I gotta tell you - I love have late breakfast for lunch. I didn't even think Chef Mickeys because I didn't even realize they had ADRs that late. Awesome! I'm going to have to remember that.

Cute dresses, but the way. Great character interactions! :thumbsup2

Ok, maybe I exaggerated with the HUGE part, but it was definitely a big deal at the time and I'm still slightly scarred by it (not literally, emotionally haha!)

It was really fun being able to eat breakfast for lunch! I prefer breakfast anytime so it was great!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!! We did have some great characters!

Great update! I've only been to Chef Mickey's once, but I really liked it! The food isn't as good as Crystal Palace, but the character interaction is great! :thumbsup2 I can't believe Donald was such a jerk, but it sounds like the other characters you saw were awesome! :woohoo:

I enjoyed Chef Mickeys! Will it be a constant repeat, no. But I would definitely go back in a few trips.

I think CP is on our to-do list for the next trip. I've heard wonderful things about it.

Yep, Donald was a jerk, but everyone else was great! :thumbsup2

We had dinner at Chef Mickey's during our first family trip... DDs were 4 and 6 at the time, and they loved it! We had no complaints about the food, as I recall.

Mmmm, Mickey waffles...

It was a great experience!

Mickey waffles are SO GOOD!!!!

I hope your move is going okay and I hope you get to find some time for another update. Dying to hear more about your trip!:goodvibes

The move has gone great! Thank you! I will try to find time soon! I have so much going on with getting ready for my first year of teaching!!

Thank you!!! Chef Mickey's was really good!!

Aren't Mickey Waffles so addictive?!?! I don't know what magic they put in them but they are wonderful!!!

OMG the cheesy potato casserole is SOOO GOOD! I want some right now! :rotfl:

Haha! Oh I wish you would have guessed Chef Mickey's! Your Disney intuition was spot on, girl!!!

The biscuits and gravy was really good! The gravy was delicious! I really like breakfast food for other times in the day! I mean, seriously, what can beat breakfast food?!?!

The dresses were so comfy for this entire trip! One suggestion, get cotton dresses. Anything with polyester or synthetic fiber will just make you sweat more!

I honestly didn't pay attention to Donald when he was with the other tables. I know he moved through the room really fast. We were the last "room" to finish before the lunch shift was over so I think the person wanted to be off work or something. It really stunk. I really hope it didn't happen to others.

A wrench in your plans? Oh, no! You guys sure are brave for attempting a full day until 3am at MK :thumbsup2

Yup, definitely a wrench, and a hammer, and a screwdriver! Haha. We were brave to go for such a full day...you'll have to wait and see if it paid off... :confused3

YAYY CHEF MICKEY'S! And yeah, I totally first of all because of your picture, and second of all because of your PTR!

It kinda sounds like "Donald" was PMSing... seriously. I'm going to Chef Mickey's in 11 DAYS, and if our Donald acts that way, I will tell him he is no longer my favorite. (Even though it wouldn't be true... but it might at least make 'him' feel bad. Hahah.)

You are too good girl!!! Can't get my Disney sneakiness past ya!

Wohoo Chef Mickey's!!! You need to have a serious talk with Donald about his moodiness if he is the same way. Go all Tinkerbell attitude on him!

I hope you have a great trip!! Can't believe you'll be there in 5 DAYS!!! WOHOOO!!!!! Are you going to live tweet??? Please please please!!!! :hyper:

I love it!! Your breakfast/lunch looked great. And I too really love your dresses, do you remember where you got them? They look so comfy for touring.

Maybe Donald was just trying to be "more" in character since you guys are adults but either way it didn't come off well... At least the other guys were great! Can't wait for your next update!!:goodvibes

It was really yummy!!

I got my dresses at a bunch of different places. My Jayhawk one I got at a sport store in Topeka, KS. Sam got her grey one at Target. I got a couple of my others at Target. My floral one you'll see in a few days is from Maurices. And our last day I wore and animal print one from JCPenneys.

Yea, I think that Donald was ready for his shift to be over, because we were one of the last tables for him to visit.

I'm glad you're enjoying the updates!!

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been absent for a while. Things are absolutely crazy with getting everything ready for school! It’s very exciting but also stressful and time consuming. So again, I apologize that these updates are not coming faster.

“Cheer up, child. It’ll turn out all right in the end. You’ll see.” ~Mrs. Potts

Day 2 (continued)

Sunday May 27th

I left you right after we finished our fun-filled meal at Chef Mickey’s. It was so fun to ride the monorail around the lagoon and back to MK. I was just excited to be on the Monorail again, but one plus I hadn’t thought of was that I got a glimpse of the Poly and GF- which I’d never been up close to either! They are so beautiful!! The GF is my absolute DREAM resort. I think it has been since the Tanner family stayed there on Full House! The Poly is definitely beautiful and it is now 2nd on the list of “One Day I Will Stay There” resort!

Well, even though we were enjoying the ride, the lunch at Chef Mickey’s had taken longer than we thought it would. Our FP for Peter Pan were very close to expiring and I was scared with the new FP return time enforcement that we wouldn’t make it. Plus, I wanted to grab a FP for Winnie the Pooh on our way to Peter Pan. Well, when we got off the Monorail we had 5 minutes. I knew we wouldn’t make it on time for the FP. But we booked it and were late by 10 minutes, after getting Winnie the Pooh FP. I was silently preparing my dining reservation excuse speech in my head. The cast member looked at the time on the FP, looked at their watch, and looked back at the FP. Then he smiled and said “Right on Time, Ladies! And Happy Birthday!” Whew! Relief!

So in that hustle and bustle, you see the lack of pictures upon our re-entry into the park! Well after Peter Pan, we looked up wait times on Sam’s Mobile Magic App and Haunted Mansion only had a 20 minute wait. We decided to head that way and get out of the heat for a bit.

While waiting in line, we got to the new separation of the Cemetery line and the Old line. We asked the CM if there was a difference in wait time and she said about 7 minutes longer through the cemetery. We really wanted to see the cemetery addition so we opted to go that way. It was really cool!! :cool1:

Sam found an old family member here… see the resemblance?!?!

Then we continued on and played with all the fun new interactive displays!

It really didn’t take that long to get through. Or it didn’t seem like it because we were having fun playing!! Soon we were huddled like cattle ready to be let in and snapped a few pictures.

I tried looking for Madam Leota’s ring in the cement, but I forget where they said it was. I never saw it on this trip. Anyone know where it is?

After this, we went over towards Splash Mountain and BTMRR. We were happily surprised to see BTMRR was open. It wasn’t set to open until the next day, so we were pretty excited we would get to ride it on both our MK days. Before we hopped in line, we grabbed a FP for Splash Mountain.

We rode BTMRR and it was so fun!! I know it was down for some time for refurbishment. But we hadn’t been there in 3 years so I honestly can’t remember to tell you what- if anything – was different about it. After that, we hopped on the train!

521312_1586235494364_754700606_n.jpg

We rode the train around to the New Fantasyland! I have pictures but I will include them on my 2nd MK day update. We used our Winnie the Pooh FP. I love this ride! It is adorable! Someday I want to wait in the stand-by queue just to play with all the interactive stuff.

After Winnie the Pooh, we headed over to the veranda in Adventureland. We had a certain Prince and Princess that we were dying to meet. Well, we got SUPER LUCKY. We got to the veranda and the line was super long. Sam and I gave each other the look asking if it was worth it. Basically reading our minds, the Cast Member told us the Prince would NOT be back out today. So we hopped in line and she closed the line immediately after us.

I’m not going to lie. It was a LONG wait. But before the trip had even started, Sam and I said we wanted to make meeting certain characters a priority. We really wanted to meet this Princess and the Prince was just an added bonus. Well, who was it???

ARIEL AND PRINCE ERIC!!!! [really sad my eyes are closed in our pic, oh well]

551642_1586235214357_1370279870_n.jpg

Oh my goodness! This character interaction was AMAZING! It may be because we were last, but they talked to us forever. At one point, Ariel pointed out the Jayhawk (ROCK CHALK!) on my dress. She said she’d never seen a bird like that but it must be one of Scuttle’s cousins! Haha! I was also swooning over the fact that I got to put my arm around Prince Eric.

So that was FABULOUS!!!!

But, we were also very hot! The humidity was crazy and I’d been reading all about the possibility of rain from Tropical Storm Beryl. The clouds were NOT looking pleasant. We figured we were right there so, why not ride Pirates. This ended up being the PERFECT decision because when we walked off the ride, the ground was drenched. It was only slightly sprinkling now though. So, we turned and headed towards Splash Mountain to use our FP. With the ever darkening clouds, we didn’t want to chance missing out on using the FP. We waited 5 minutes for our time to turn over and then we basically walked on Splash! Awesome!

The ride was fantastic as ever. I love Splash! We couldn’t wait to ride it multiple times during the 3AM EMH…yea about that….

Anyways, it was about 4:30pm and it was time to go and meet another Princess and her Prince. This is probably the Princess that I was most excited to meet! I seriously couldn’t wait! We got to her queue REALLY early, so we wouldn’t have to wait like we did with Ariel and Eric. We were like the 5th people in line. Wohoo!!! :dance3:

It had started misting a bit and I was scared if it really started to rain they would cancel the character appearance. Luckily, the misty-ness subsided and soon, our Princess and her Prince appeared. And that’s when my knees got weak, my stomach flip-flopped, and my mouth dropped wide-open. HOLY MOLY PRINCE NAVEEN IS A HOTTIE!!!!!! :cloud9:

Yup, that’s right. We were meeting Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen!!! And I thought Prince Eric was cute! But if Tiana and Naveen hadn’t had that protective-looking character handler, I may have just dragged Prince Naveen back to Kansas with me.

602988_1586235574366_177953613_n.jpg

Um yea! LOOK AT HIM!! I got to hug that gorgeous man! Be jealous.

Ok, so after we pulled ourselves together enough to leave and accepting Tiana’s offer to join them for gumbo sometime, we decided we actually were pretty hungry. It was about 5:30pm. So we headed into Tomorrowland because we wanted to eat at Cosmic Rays! I’d never eaten here before and I was pleasantly surprised! It was really good!

Here is Sam’s food, a chili cheese dog and fries:

And here is my food, a chicken sandwich and fries:

285712_1586235894374_1836082557_n.jpg

After eating, we both were getting tired. I know, I know… we are supposed to be doing 3am EMH. But we were about to hit the wall. 6 hours of sleep after a 20 hour day yesterday was not cutting it. We decided to head back to the resort and take a nap so we could be rejuvenated for EMH.

We got back to the resort by 7 and decided to set the alarm for 9. We wanted to make it back for Wishes at 10, because we wouldn’t be able to stay that late in the park on our last MK night. Let me just say, thank God for that nap. It really did help.

We were pushing it to get to MK in time for Wishes because we didn’t actually leave our room until 9:15. We did make it, but didn’t have the best spot. We were towards the end of Main Street. But it still had the desired effect and yes, I cried. I don’t know what it is about Wishes, but it just makes me thankful for everything, makes me feel like a kid again, and it really touched home because a week before the trip I had one of my “wishes” come true by getting my teaching job. :wizard:

After that, we headed towards Adventureland to get a very coveted treat. Pretty sure you can all guess what that is… yup! A Dole Whip Float! [Sorry its not the best picture]

181080_1586235974376_161584598_n.jpg

Ladies and Gentlemen, this was my FIRST Dole Whip Float! I can not believe how delicious this was. It was cold and sweet, but not a heavy dessert. Just perfect. We got them and found a front row spot in Frontierland for the 11pm MSEP!

I was so excited to see this parade because I never had. It was so awesome!!!! We got a lot of special attention because of our birthday buttons (did I mention I LOVE THOSE BUTTONS!) One of the dancing donkeys that is with Peter Pan’s float was talking to us while spinning around with is partner- he asked us how old we were and wished us a happy birthday! Peter Pan waved at us too!! (By the way, have you guys seen that adorable YouTube video of that little girl who wants to marry Peter Pan??? Cutest thing ever! If you haven’t seen it, you need too!!)

[Please excuse the lack of pictures after this point]

Anyways, after the parade, we headed into Fantasyland. We rode IASW. We got stopped for about 5 minutes in the exit tunnel. Being stopped on IASW is torture…can I sue Disney? Just kidding!!! Then we headed over and rode Snow White. This was our last time to ride it. It was terribly sad and I didn’t want to get off the ride. I wish they could have kept it open and put the Princess Meet and Greet somewhere else, but I have to trust Disney that they are doing it to make the park even more fabulous.

We left Fantasyland and decided to ride on the Haunted Mansion. Why is the Haunted Mansion somewhat scary at night? Or maybe I’m just a wimp. We got stopped for a few minutes on this ride in the section with all the eyes looking back at you on the walls. Creepy! Haha! We also got scared in the graveyard because of one of those darn guys that jumps up from behind the tombstone. Creeps!

After Haunted Mansion, we decided to really get the night started and headed towards Splash Mountain! It was a little after midnight and we waited about 20 minutes in line. We figured as the night went on this wait time would just get shorter. So we got on about 12:30. Sam tried to point out a Hidden Mickey we’d seen earlier in the day, but you couldn’t see it in the dark. I was so pumped to go down Splash Mountain at night. Another thing I’d never done. We were having a fabulous ride and we arrived in The Laughing Place. And then our night changed completely… :scared:

Our log stopped right under those mechanical opossums, next to the little doors at the base of the tree to the left. This is where we sat for the next 20 minutes. Listening to that music OVER AND OVER. Finally, they turned it off, turned the lights on, and announced there was a mechanical issue. Thank you Captain Obvious. A CM came buy and assured us they were working as fast as possible to get the ride going again. 10 minutes later he walked buy and said “About ready to go folks.” Finally, 10 minutes later we started to move. Whew, no big deal right?

WRONG! :scared1: We went down that short drop and we were stopped again. Right by Brer Bear and the bee hive with his voice soundtrack playing repeatedly “whoo haa whoo haa ooh haa whoo haa…” Again, a CM came by and said they were working on the problem and to sit tight-- like we could actually go anywhere with the lap bar pulled down. Well, we sat tight for about 15 minutes, until the announcement that our ride would not be able to continue and that they’d be around shortly to help evacuate us from the ride.

At this point, everyone around us was getting antsy and one guy a few logs back was getting angry. Oh boy. Well, it took 20 minutes for them to get to our level and release all of us from the logs. It was a process, let me tell you. They walked us in a single file line to an evacuation staircase and out the back side of Splash Mountain. We were on the ride for basically an hour, not even counting wait time. It was now 1:30am and we only had an hour and a half left of the EMH. Talk about disappointment.

I’m not one to get mad about these kind of things though. It is obviously not the CM fault. Its not like they wanted the ride to breakdown. The one grouchy gentleman was trying to get free stuff from the CM that helped get us out. It was really sad that he reacted that way and all the poor CM could do was refer him to Guest Relations.

On a positive note, I got to see a bit of backstage Disney! It was really cool! Sam was laughing at me while I was amazed at the plain white staircase that goes straight through the mountain and the backstage area to the side of the ride. I wanted to break out my camera but with the CM’s around I wasn’t brave enough.

So the first fiasco of the trip was over. We decided to make the best of the rest of the EMH. We rode Pirates. Honestly, we were both a bit nervous getting on a boat ride after we had just gotten off of one. But we sucked it up! Haha!

After this, we headed towards Space Mountain! The line was actually pretty long, about 30 minutes, but we decided what else were we going to do? So, we rode Space Mountain. Afterwards, we were really tired so we decided to head home to our resort. It was about 2:30am. But as we reached Main Street we both decided we were hungry. The bakery was still open, so we popped in to see what was left.

Sam got a Chocolate pastry:

525850_1586236214382_1913944376_n.jpg

I got a Cherry Danish:

We enjoyed our treats on our way out. They were really yummy and hit the spot at the end of our night. I love walking slowly out of the MK, with all the lights on. It’s a special sort of ambiance that you can’t quite explain.

By the time we got back to the room, we were done. I took a quick shower and I believe we were both in bed asleep by 4am.

And we needed our beauty sleep…tomorrow held a couple more mishaps, but nothing a little Disney Magic couldn’t help solve.

Continued in Next Post.

I haven't been "lucky" enough to get stuck on a ride. My parents got stuck on ToT a couple of years ago, but I have never been more than 5 minutes sitting in one spot.

I know just sitting at the end of IASW for a little bit, bothers me as the song repeats over and over...LOL!!!

Really enjoying hearing about your trip, and just for you, I have broken my unwritten rule of reading an ongoing, unfinished trip report. I'm so glad your move went well, and I know you have lots to do to prepare for the new school year (I'm a teacher too, in the UK) but for the sake of my sanity, please hurry on with your report! :goodvibes

It was such a shame that you didn't get to complete your ride on Splash and that you missed so much of EMH, but good for you not losing your cool about it. And as you pointed out, you got to go 'backstage' on Splash, and not a lot of people have done that.

Loved the photo of Master Gracies tombstone - the angle of the guy behind makes it looks like his arm is trying to creep out from his grave! :)

Looking forward to reading more...very soon...pleeeeeease!

We got stuck on Splash several years ago. That music did get annoying after a short time! We didn't get to take the staircase out though-that would have been exciting to see the backstage areas! They finally got the ride back to running, and we went out the traditional way.

Cute pictures with the princes and princesses!

Sounds as if y'all got a lot done during your MK day!

I read your update this morning before I left for work so I could see pictures. You got some great shots with the characters.

What a long and exhausting day. Kudos to you for going back for a nap and going back to the park at 9pm. Not sure if I could do that, but you never know.

I never want to get stuck on Splash. It sounds very frustrating. Oh - and that music - I wish it would just shut off the moment the ride shuts down. So sorry that you were stuck for almost 90 minutes, but I bet the behind the scenes stuff was cool.

Haha, well I wouldn't call it luck! I think I would have been more freaked out about being stuck on ToT. At least on Splash, you're out in the open around other people, but on ToT your enclosed in that box and I'd get claustrophobic.

Yea, IASW can get annoying really quick. Haha. So glad thats not where we got stuck!

I feel so honored that you're breaking your rule just to read my TR! How sweet of you!! I have so much to do, you are right, it is pretty crazy right now. I will try to get them up faster!

We did get to ride it once earlier in the day so at least we got to ride it. The backstage part was pretty cool!

I thought it was a fun angle to take it from! Glad you like it!

Yea, it wasn't the most relaxing place to get stuck, to say the least. :lmao: I'm glad you go to finish your ride. It was neat to see backstage areas but I would never want it to happen again.

Thanks! Just wish my eyes weren't shut with Ariel!

We got a TON done. I was really surprised because the crowds were pretty heavy at points.

The character pictures did turn out pretty well! We love meeting characters and we have a lot more of those pictures coming.

It was a long day, but I'm glad we both know what our limits are. The nap really helped!

It was frustrating, but I knew the CM couldn't help it, so there was no sense in losing our cool about it. I'm sure they got us off as soon as they could. I have a feeling we were some of the last ones because we were pretty high up into the ride. Going behind the scenes was pretty neat!

Oh, wow! I've yet to get stuck on a ride {knock on wood!}

My friend and her family (DH and 2 DDs) were at WDW in May and got stuck on EE! You know the part where you stop and the track has been "torn" away by the Yeti? Yeah, at that part. I can't remember how long she said they sat there until it was announced they'd have to be evacuated off the ride. And they were in the front 2 rows... when the CMs did come get everyone, they unloaded the back first, so my friend and her family were the last ones off the ride. She said they had to walk a bit up the mountain first, then get inside and make their way down the mountain.

Looking forward to your next update! Hope you're ready for school... I can't believe my girls go back in just over a week!

I am really enjoying your report and want to congratulate you on your teaching job!!! I am so happy you went to Chef Mickeys! Too bad you actually got a grumpy Donald, but I am happy the food and the rest of the fab 5 were so wonderful!! As for getting stuck on Splash for so long....boo!

Looking forward to more of your adventures!!

Loving your TR! I'm going to WDW with one of my best friends from college and it is so good to see a TR with you and your friend! Can't wait to read more!

Lucky you!! It is a unique, but not desired experience, let me tell ya! :lmao:

That would be a HORRIBLE place to get stuck on EE. I'm just glad we were sitting level rather than like on our way up the big drop or something. That would have gotten very uncomfortable. I feel bad for your friend & their family.

Thank you! I'm getting there on being ready. Finally was able to go into my classroom with new carpet laid, so I can start setting up!

Looking forward to more of your adventures!!

Thank you!!!! It has been a long road to get a teaching job, so I am very thankful!

Chef Mickey's was so much fun! It was better than I thought it would be! Donald was a grump but we tried to not let it bother us too much because the rest was just awesome!

Loving your TR! I'm going to WDW with one of my best friends from college and it is so good to see a TR with you and your friend! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you! That means so much!! Glad you are here to read along!

It is soooo much fun to go with good friends!! Seriously, what a blast we had!

Hoooooooray for MK fun! Omg though, I was so worried to get on Splash after all the stories I've heard lately. I think they just need to close that ride down for a while and fix it for good!!!! Then everything will be lovely. :)

Yes! MK was awesome today! We got sooo much stuff done!! I think it will take a few rides to NOT be nervous on Splash again. I'll be biting my nails the next time I ride. I totally agree that they need to shut it down for a bit- preferably between my trips. It needs a good mechanical fix-up and a few sprinkles of pixie dust.

Chapter 8- Misplaced Diamonds - “I am a damsel, I am in distress, I can handle this! Have a nice day! ~ Megara

Day 3

Monday, May 28th
(Memorial Day)

[Please forgive the lack of pictures in this update, it rained a lot, we misplaced a few diamonds ;), and I don’t like my camera to get wet.]

So, I was a little concerned that today would just be crazy busy because it was Memorial Day. However, with all the rain in the forecast, I was hopeful it would keep the “locals” away.

We gave ourselves a little sleep-in time today, considering we didn’t get to sleep until about 3:30-4am. I set the alarm for 9:15am and we were out the door by 10am. I’m not a fan of such late starts at the parks but it had to be done with the late night before.

As we headed for the bus, the skies were NOT looking very nice. Tropical Storm Beryl had officially arrived. It was sprinkling when we got to the bus stop, so we stood back under the awning until we saw our bus pull up. We were both super excited to get to the park for the day! It didn’t take long to get to the park once we were on the bus.

Where were we going??

Hollywood Studios!!!!!!!!

This is my 2nd favorite park. I love the atmosphere, the emphasis on animation, the rides, and the shows!

We headed straight for TSM and prayed that the FP were not gone for the day. The crowds didn’t seem too horrible, but it was still a holiday. When we got close to the Pixar Animation area, I sent Sam to get the FP, while I made a pit stop in the restrooms (the ones just to the right of TSM.)

Sam met me outside the bathrooms after getting the FP (return time 6:50pm). She casually mentioned to me that she was mad she’d forgotten to put on her wedding rings. :scared: I had this sudden flash back (Sam says I have a photographic memory, I think she’s crazy) but I vividly remembered I’d seen her set them on the end of her bed in the room that morning before she had gotten in the shower. I told her this and she still didn’t register what I was trying to tell her. Sam does not get upset or concerned about things quickly. Finally, I bluntly told her that the maids will go in there, throw the sheets and bedding around and there was a good chance they wouldn’t see her ring and it’d get mixed up in the mess of sheets.

Now Sam starts to freak out and immediately wants to go back to the hotel. We have a lunch reservation coming up and we’d most likely miss it if we go back. I remember I’ve called the hotel directly in the past, so I tell her to look up the phone number on her Iphone. I don’t want to brag for Sam, but her ring is BEAUTIFUL. It is also VERY expensive. It’s like a $5000.00 Neil Lane ring. Obviously, anyone would be concerned about their wedding rings no matter the cost, but this was a pretty big deal! :sad2:

Luckily, we found the hotel’s number pretty quickly and Sam got transferred to the Housekeeping Manager. She explained the situation. The manager told us he, personally, would walk to our room and see if it had been cleaned yet. It felt like we were on hold FOREVER. I mean it was close to 11 and we had seen the housekeeping carts on our floor when we left the room. We were terrified the room had already been cleaned and we’d be searching for the ring in a mass of sheets. Sam was getting very upset and trying not to cry. I felt so bad for her and I was mad at myself because I had seen her lay them down.

....and we waited... and waited... and waited...

Finally, the manager came back on the line and amazingly said our room had not been cleaned yet. Hallelujah! He said he had the rings and would like to know what to do with them. Sam told him to set them on the TV dresser and asked for our room to not be cleaned. We were so thankful for housekeeping’s above and beyond help and so relieved. :dance3:

While all of this was going on, it had begun to POUR cats and dogs and we were still under the awning outside the restrooms to the right of TSM. The wind was blowing like crazy. We had about 20 minutes until we really needed to head to our lunch reservation so we decided to wait it out. Suddenly, there was this HUGE crack of lightening. I swear, Sam and I saw it hit the ground across the walkway. I screamed and ran into the bathroom! HA! It was scary let me tell ya!

Anyways, the rain let up a little and we decided to head to our reservation. We were so excited to eat at this restaurant!!

Where were we going?

50’s Prime Time Café!!!! [I didn’t get an outside shot because it was raining]

The view around the waiting room:

This restaurant was set up so cute! I really loved the look of it. Sam and I had picked up some menus on our way in to look over while we waited. I’d heard about some of the antics that can happen here and I was pretty excited to get picked on…is that weird?

But I didn’t expect it to start so early. When our name was called, Sam and I set the menus down on the coffee table in front of our living room sofa, got up, and headed towards the young guy who had called our name. He was in a button-down sweater, corduroys, and those thick black glasses. He pulled off the part pretty well. Suddenly, he says, “Ohhhh, you’re not going to pick up after yourselves? I see how it is, well let me get those madams.” I was so confused about what he was talking about or if he was even talking to me. So, he walks over to our coffee table and picked up our menus and gives us “The Look” ha! It was pretty funny. Then he led us to the table and told us our waitress, Fox, would not put up with that kind of behavior.

Yes, our waitress’s name was Fox. I know, weird. Here is the view from our table (No, we didn’t get a TV table).

Our waitress was really funny. She kept telling us she had her eye on us. Sam and I both ordered the Fried Chicken. Sam got the greens with hers but I asked for green beans instead. The Fried Chicken was really good! We both loved the mashed potatoes too!

After we finished eating, our waitress made it a HUGE deal that it was our birthdays. She got up and stood on a chair. She told everyone that Sam and I love to have people’s attention and that we are a real big deal. So, she asked the room to please us and sing happy birthday with her! Our entire room sang happy birthday to us while our waitress danced around ridiculously! It was quite the event!

Here are our birthday cupcakes:

It ended up being a really fun meal and we both enjoyed ourselves. Our waitress was great and I loved the atmosphere. When we exited the restaurant it had stopped raining!!

But would it hold off the rest of the day?? You’ll have to wait and find out….

Continued in next post.
