I thought I would do something a little different and instead of counting the days to Disney, I would count the dollars. We hope to go next January, although that's still a little shaky too. But I have $1100 put away so far, and I have a chart up on the wall and a counter on the DIS to motivate me toward our goal!

You're one third of the way!! We're hoping to go next year also, not sure of the date yet. We'll use our tax refund to pay for the trip.

Right there with you!! I have $1000 saved too. Want to go Nov. next year. So I have a little more time!! Want to try BC so it will be more money than POR. Save $100 a week is my goal!!

I like that idea. I don't have a ticker for it but have been saving. Whenever my kids ask for something I tell them no because we are saving for Disney.

So today was payday, and instead of putting my money in my emergency fund, I put it in the Disney fund  shh...!! I figure Disney's an emergency, right??pirate:

I totally agree:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have a piggy bank that only accepts quarters and once/twice a week I feed him a roll of quarters or 4 :rotfl2:. It's Dave Ramsey approved I'm sure. I will have my cruise paid for in full way before we leave and plenty of funds set aside so that I can fully relax on my vacay and not worry about that Dooney purse that I think I just have to have or that massage that I'm going to book :cloud9:

My dh will see the quarter rolls in the trash and make fun, but when our vacay rolls around he will be much happier knowing that it's all paid for and worry free.

:woohoo:Karen Happy Saving!!!

I like that idea too! We used to keep a big jar in the kitchen as our "Disney Trip Savings" but somehow money kept disappearing from the jar. Maybe if we keep a running total of what is left to save it will motivate the kids and DH to put into it rather than take out of it.

Worth a try anyway!

If you have time to do survey's, Sunshine Rewards have 6 survey's you can try a day, and if you can do all 6 a day, you can earn over $100 a month in survey's alone. On my last 2 trips, I had $600 in Disney Gift cards to use. i paid for our Dining and also upgraded my ticket to non-expiring.

One other way I have been saving. Me and my dh both get raises at physical year end. June 30th. The last 2 years, instead of using the amount each week. I save and put the money in my "Disney Account". It is only $15 a week for me and a little more for my dh, but it has added up the last 2 years.

This thread is great. We have $1100. put away (plus a little change put away in our Paradise Falls change jar:)) We are dreaming of going away during the free dining.

I think that is a great idea! It is nice to see the money build up and the days get closer..:goodvibes

We're saving too. I've explained that every time I use a coupon when I shop the money that I saved goes to the Disney fund. This a.m. my 7 year old was at WalMart with me. We stopped in the cereal aisle and she was inspecting her options then froze, turned to me and said "well which ones will get us to Disney faster? Check your coupons, Mom!" Atta girl :thumbsup2

Oh WOW!! Now that's teaching two valuable lessons in one - saving money to get what you want without going into debt, AND that Disney World is THE destination :cheer2:

I'm up to $1760 in the account, and I do believe I've lost two travellers - my DH really doesn't want to go, and our boarder seems to have lost motivation to save money - facial piercings, hair dye and her new boyfriend seem to be precluding her goals. She hasn't even gotten her passport figured out, but that's her loss. In fact, I think I probably have enough now to pay for a trip for just me and my kid, so I might be booking soon!! (of course, I have to wait until we can book a package in 2011, unless - haha - I get an amazing room discount PIN, which I've never gotten.)
