We (me, DH, and DS(4)) are planning to head to WDW for 2 nights (Sat and Sun night) after we get off the Magic in early Feb. 2004. I can't believe I am having such a tough time deciding where to stay! Part of me thinks this should be an easy decision since it's only for two nights but the other side is that I want to be somewhere fun and convenient for the short time.

I can get the $129 rate at the Swan/Dolphin. But, I wonder if I can get a room for the same ballpark somewhere else since it will still be before President's Day.

Our main focus will probably be MK. We might even just spend one day at the MK and the other time at the resort. Or if adding an UPH to the room isn't too outrageous then we might visit MGM and/or Epcot too.

Where would you stay?

Thanks!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

You could stay at the Swan, take the boat over to Studios, and spend the day introducing your DS to all the characters on Mickey Avenue.

And the Swan has the "heavenly beds"! AAAAAAAAAAAAA!

The heavenly beds do sound nice! And since we are eligible for a $129 rate at the Swan or Dolphin, that is a definite option.

I was wondering if for a short stay and knowing we are definitely going to MK if there would be a better choice? I saw posts about WL during value season for close to that price.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?!:D

If you're trying to stay close to the $129.00 rate and close to Magic Kingsom then I would do WL. Or if you could spend a little more money, go for the Poly. New pool, refurbished rooms and easy access to MG. So many people rave about the Poly.

If you can get the $129 rate now for your dates, I would book at the Swan and then wait for WDW codes to come out later on in the year. That way you have a fall-back hotel at a great rate :).

I would stay at the resort that is closest to the park in which you will be going to.

Since you will be focusing your time on MK and the resort, I would stay at Wilderness Lodge. This is a fantastic resort, and it would be the perfect place to spend a resort day. Plus, you have the boat ride to MK - both fun and convenient.

I love the Dolphin and have stayed there with the $129 rate and plan to do so again someday. But if you're only going to be there 2 days, and your focus isn't on MGM or Epcot, WL would be a better choice and should have comparable rates.

Contemporary - it's a quick 5 minute walk and you won't be wasting precious park time traveling to the MK.

Thanks for the great suggestions!! We stayed at the CBR recently, which is our only trip to WDW so far. While we were there we agreed that the Swan/Dolphin seemed like a great location and knowing that I could get a good rate, we thought we would go there next time. But, as we planned this trip and realized it would be a short stay at WDW, focusing on MK, I wondered in one of the MK resorts would be better. It sounds like WL would be very nice and I have been reading on other thread that it is nice for small children. Although my son loves trains and really like the monorail which makes me think CR would be nice, although probably more expensive (I am not sure about doing the garden wing). Maybe if great codes are announced, CR or Poly would be good choices. It's nice to have these kind of decisions to make.:D

I think I will go with the suggestion to reserve a room at the Swan or Dolphin as a backup to ensure I get the rate. Then we can decide if we want to go to something else if the codes are good. Does anyone know if it is cumbersome to get your one night deposit back?

Thanks again!!!!

I agree, back up reservation for Swan, but if a code comes up DEFINATELY stay at the Poly. In WDW time is money, don't waste it in travel when you can get to MK and Epcot on the monorail from the Poly.

Your son will love the Poly waterslide.

If your son loves trains, the Wilderness Lodge would be nice. The VWL (right next door to the main lodge) has lots of train pictures of Walt Disney and it has one of the train cars under glass on display that Disney had in his back yard.
