online reservations/availability

I'm a new DVC owner, and just logged onto the website today for the first time. I was very exciting to start reviewing options for a visit this fall!! I am, however, totally dismayed to see that it looks like there is no way to peruse availability or book reservations online?? Please tell me I'm missing something obvious (or hidden).... Surely there is a better way than calling member services to ask if a whole laundry list of options are available?? As someone who conducts about 99.9% of my life's business online, this will be a serious annoyance!! :scared:
 
Yeah, I was disappointed too when I first got access.

You'll have to call in to MS to book and peruse inventory.
 

You can also use the email option, it is on the member website. But no live, real-time avalability. Given how quickly availability changes (people have lost reservations n a matter of seconds, while talking to Member Services) I would imagine a live online program, that is accurate, would be challenging. They've been promising online reservations for years, and do seem to be working towards that goal.
 
Thanks for the responses, everyone! Hopefully they don't get tired of my repeated calls saying what about *this* date/resort/room combination. But, I guess since that is the boat everyone is in, they must be used to those requests!

That's their job - it's what they're there for. Most are very, very good at what they do and I'm sure they will be very, very helpful to you. :)

I've been calling daily since May 1 putting together a trip from 12/1 to 12/7. We have wait lists, but I call to see if individual days are available within the wait list period. It has actually helped! :) Out of 12 days I need (booking 2 rooms) I have 9.

Just remember to be pleasant and polite. Every single time you call you have to verify your address and email. That's just the way it is. Oh, I don't think that I've ever gotten the same CM twice. They don't know that you've been calling and calling and calling. Also, the CMs have always been very polite and pleasant in return, even when I have a ton of questions.
