Hello!
I'm thinking of making an online purchase. Instead of being killed with customs, taxes, delivery etc, I thought about sending it to POR - we'll be there in February.
Will the hotel hold it for me? How do I get a mailing address?
I thought I read somewhere people mail themselves a box of food.

I have ordered from Disneystore.com in the past and have had it delivered to our resort. If it arrives earlier than your check in date, they will hold it. (However, you may want to call them to verify how long they could hold it for.)

When we arrived, we asked if they have the package. They usually take awhile to look for it. If so, they usually ask if they can deliver it to your room later or call you.

You should call your resort for the complete address. We put our full name (whatever is on the resort reservation), Guest, and our arrival date.

However, you should also inquire with your resort if they are charging for accepting the package. There are a few resorts (I think those which are considered convention resorts) who charge. I believe Contemporary/BLT and Beach Club/Yacht Club are among these. I'm not sure if POR is one. I would call just to verify with them so you know for sure. I think I heard that the charges are $5-$10 per package, but I'm not sure. When we did it a few years ago, BC did not charge me nor did they say there were any charges, but I think they have added this charge recently.

Good Luck. Hopefully someone will chime in with a more recent experience.

Thanks dvcdisney, I wasn't thinking about disneystore.com, but what a great idea! It'll be much cheaper than buying souvenirs at WDW and most of my kids are young enough that they wouldn't know the difference.

This is a great idea! I would never thought to do it had you not mentioned it. I have heard of people mailing their own stuff from home and having luck with that. I can't give you any details but I'm hoping someone else can.

We ordered something back in March from restoration hardware online and had it sent to the Contemporary; we called to order after we arrived and paid extra for express shipping. There was a charge for receiving the package through the convention centre package handling centre of $10 but otherwise , was pretty easy.

Thanks who's ur daddy, that post had exactly the info I was looking for. Yay!!! Now I can be a happy shopper :cool1:

No problem. The only thing I don't know if there'll be a "handling" charge for you. There was no charge for me when we were staying at Saratoga Springs.

You're Welcome.

I got the idea from the DIS forum. I have always wanted order something from the website, but didn't want to pay the shipping fees to Canada. And a couple years ago, I read a post here that they have done it many times. And I was also able to get a discount as a DVC member so I was so glad when I heard about it.

Yep... from Target.com, Amazon.com, Disney.com, Gymboree.com, LLbean .com LOL
Never had an issue.
:thumbsup2
