I wonder why they don't have an online dinner reservation system for Disneyland, California Adventure, etc? They do on the Disney World website side? That was some of the best planning fun.

My guess is that they don't need it, since there isn't the same demand for DLR restaurants as for WDW. There is an email reservation system that you can use if you like: dine@disneyland.com.

I used the email reservation system and it worked great! I gave them what restaurants I wanted what time and date plus my name and phone number. They answered quickly, usually in a few hours or less with my reservation number. Painless and easy and much better than waiting on phone.:thumbsup2

I've also found the e-mail reservation system to be easier than making a phone call.

And with the e-mail reservation system you get a reservation number -- although it's actually an alphanumeric. ;)

AFAIK, you don't get a reservation number when you make a reservation by phone.

You do, they just don't give it to you. After I made all my reservations by phone, I e-mailed with my name and phone number I made the reservations under, and they were able to send me my reservation numbers.

Does the same 60 day rule apply to e-mails for character dining reservations as it does for phone reservations?

Cool! Glad to hear it worked so quickly:cool1:

Yes it does because I was able to book one of my character meals because it was on the 60 day mark. The other one they sent back a message stating it was too early and to e-mail back when it became 60 days out. But overall the whole e-mail system was really easier and they responded quickly I would say within 1/2 hour of you e-mailing them.

It's the same two-month rule for phone or e-mail reservations (for character dining or other dining reservations).

For example, if you're making a reservation for September 26, you can phone or e-mail your reservation on July 26.

According to the DLR web-site, it's one-month for tours.

According to a CM on the phone, it's one-month for the Fantasmic Dessert premium viewing.
