I did the online checkin last night and got my port arrival time and the port arrival form. Now today I got an email from disney that says check in action needed, mainly birth certificate and drivers license info and pictures. Is immediate action needed or can I bring those documents to the port and finish the check in there?

I believe if your information has been rejected you need to resubmit it. You want your check in to say “clear to sail”

Did you upload all of that when checking in? You need to upload DL's and birth certs or passport info as part of the check in process, then you also bring with you to the port. You need to upload then wait to be approved.

We did our check-in last night as well and got an email this morning that it was finalized/verified. If you got an e-mail back, you definitely should look into what's missing and get it uploaded.

We put in our head shots and pictures of our passports last night. I thought you had to do that to get checked in. Were you able to complete it and get a PAT (port arrival time)?

Yes I got the port arrival time, but from what I hear I have to go back in take pictures of our drivers licenses and my grandsons birth certificate. they also didn't accept his regular picture

Ah, well it's good you got the PAT. I would still try and do the photos ahead of time to save yourself the worry at the port.

Since I received the port arrival form and port arrival time, couldn't I just bring the documents in question with me to the port and have them verify everything there

Technically yes but I would say best to upload in advance so that it is done - it ensures a smoother check in process and makes sure no other issues with your documents in advance that could impact boarding!

I personally would not want to risk just bringing to the port and hope that Disney accepts my documents since if they reject them at check in I have no recourse except to be denied boarding.

You seem hesitant to load in advance so do what makes you feel comfortable. I know what I would do.

I want to thank you and everyone that replied to my post! I am an old timer, not great on the computer. I am going to call Disney today. I learned a lot from all the replies. I didn't realize I had to actually take pictures of both passport and drivers license. I have those docs in hand and im going back in, wish me luck

If you have a passport, you just have to load the passport picture. You do not have to load a Driver's License picture with the passport photo.

You only need a picture of your passport AND a picture you take standing in front of a light colored wall, no glasses or hat, so essentially a selfie. That is your photo that gets attached to your cruise card. You don't need your DL is using a passport.

So DCL no longer does the pictures and passport verification at the port or is the online thing just a way to speed up the checking lines? I haven't cruised DCl in a few years but have been cruising other lines and the DCL photo upload you is unique from what I have been used to doing.

You still show your passport at security, but no more need to do pictures. Definately speeds up the lines. Now the bottleneck is xray/metal detectors.

I believe you CAN still do everything at the port but doing it online ahead of time makes things faster at the port. More importantly, you know you had all the right documentation collected soon before the cruise. (Sure you could always still forget to actually bring it but you had it all at one point.) If you wait until you get to the port and THEN realize you didn't understand what documents you needed to bring, it could be too late because there's no time to get those documents and you'll miss your cruise.

I have taken 3 head shots for the online check in, all times I was wearing glasses, all were accepted. It isn't a passport photo. It just shows up to the crew to identify you. Basically replaces the photo they took at the port.

It seems line the OP was able to get a PAT without uploading any documents. Could someone skip to the PAT section of online check-in to get an earlier PAT and then go back and fill out the rest of the online check-in? I know other cruise lines allow you to do this.

We just checked in the other night and while I circumvent everything else (drive to Port, pay with cash), I didn't think it was possible to skip the documents...but I will definitely try next time.

I didn't think that was possible either . . .

I just looked, and on DCL it says "no sunglasses." But it doesn't say anything about regular glasses. I'm guessing since regular glasses can glare (and therefore obscure part of your face), that might be where the "no glasses" rule came from. But it doesn't appear to be an official DCL rule.
