Online check in

You will receive an email when it's time, I don't remember exactly but I'm thinking about a month early. I normally wait until about a week or even a few days before the trip because I tend to change my reservations more than once. There are limited room requests you can make like near an elavator or high floor but not exact requests.

Where do you call to make the requests?

The Main Reservations line. 407-W-DISNEY.

And do you request a specific room or what?

It's not recommended to request a specific room as the odds of that room being available are slim and the room assignors won't know why you wanted that room. It's best to describe what you want. For example:

Upper floor and corner room
Ground floor and close to pool
Quiet location

I had luck getting the exact room I want by making a room request fax. This website has a great explanation: https://www.thefrugalsouth.com/the-best-way-to-make-a-room-request-at-disney-world-free-printable/ and there is also a lot of talk about room faxes on the boards.

You can also request exact room numbers by utilizing Touring Plans and finding your perfect room. They list out the room numbers and exactly what to paste in your fax. Just go here: https://touringplans.com/hotel_maps and select your hotel. Then fill out the options on the left and choose your room.

Last year I requested a specific range of room numbers and even went as far as to ask for a corner room. I sent the fax 5-7 days prior via a free fax website, and I got the EXACT location I requested. Fingers crossed the same thing happens this year! It's worth a shot!

What is really weird is that I booked POP today (I still have my Hilton backup reserved) for SEPTEMBER and it immediately offered me the check in option. I didn't trust it so while I opened it to see if it was truly letting me, I didn't do anything yet.

I booked our October trip about a month ago and was able to do online check in then. It didn’t save both of my choices so I ended up having my ta call them in.

How do you know what number to fax the request to?
Don't bother faxing DVC resorts. DVC instructed members years ago not to bother faxing because they would be thrown away and to just add your request to your reservation.
