Does anyone know - if I do the online check-in - do I still have the opportunity to request an upgrade/different room when I arrive?

What's the real benefit of online checkin (is there one?)

Theoretically you will spend less time at check-in. You will give them your ID and reservation number, they will hand you your packet (KTTW(s), Resort Map, etc) and off you go!

You can request a different room, but realize that holds up the people in the line behind you, who are using the correct purpose of online check in--to grab and go. I think holding people up because of that is inconsiderate.

If you think you might request a different area, IMO, you should do regular check in.
