We are leaving on Friday (May 29th) for WDW!!! We are staying at SSR. I was wondering if I should do the online check in or just wait until we arrive at SSR?

On line check in went very well for us at SSR first week in May.
I'd give it a shot again.

Would someone please fill me in on the real advantages to the online check in? I'm just not seeing them . . .

Here's my opinion from using it last week:

It basically saves the time it would take you to give them your credit card and have them print out your cards. If you check-in online the cards are pre-printed and have your credit card number attached when you arrive. It's probably worth doing just to save that extra 3-5min at check-in.

For our trip last week: We were not given our room requests (Zebra Trail) when we did checked in online at AKV nor at BWV (near elevator, high floor) when we did not check in online! From our experience checking in both ways last week, I don't think it effects your room requests getting filled and also doesn't effect the time your room is available (although online check in asks what time you plan on arriving).

I'm a hurry up & go kind of person but I'm not in THAT much of a hurry that saving 5 min. is going to be make or break for me. We checked into SSR last Fri. nite for the weekend & I had requested the Grandstand section but I also wanted to get just as close as possible to the pool area & the Springs area. At check-in the CM put us in the Grandstand but she was putting us in the furthest 9000 building. By checking in at the desk I was able to ask her to check for availability in the 8000 buildings which were closer and she DID find one available. It was just a matter of her scrolling down a little further on her computer. It was our first time at SSR and I really wanted to avoid hating it because of the walk. That was one of our beefs with OKW so I was trying to be proactive about our location.

So, if you have no location requests and don't really care where you are then it's probably fine. If you ARE particular then I'd say go to the desk to be sure your requests are met if at all possible.

Thanks for all the advice!! I think I will just wait and check in at SSR...I am HOPING:worship: to get the Grandstand 8000 building...wish me luck!princess:

We are leaving tomorrow morning....I am so excited!!!!:cool1::rotfl::woohoo::yay::dance3::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I'd wait and check in at SSR. No real advantage to online check in.

FWIT...We used online check in at the begining of May and got there at 1200 and the room was ready (the CM said it was becase we used online checkin, but I don't know about that) - with no waiting in either line. However, at 300 when we were walking around, the regular line looked to be a 20 minute wait while the online check in had no wait. So, I would say you can save 5-20 minutes, depending on the time you check in.
