I haven't used the online check-in option because I don't know how that would affect room choice. What has been anyone's experience. When I first bought into DVC (12 years ago), we were always assigned exactly what we requested. I haven't been able to get a request for the last many years (bldg #62 at OKW or Epcot view at BW)

Usually when I check in now they offer me two or three room that are ready to occupy. I am worried that if I check-in online I will just be assigned anything.

Any ideas?? Thank you!

I am going in February and staying at BLT Bay Lake View. Is there anything I should request or look for in a room>

I stayed at BWV earlier this month and did not do online check-in. We arrived around 2:00, no line, and our room was ready and almost met our request (requested top floor, got 4 instead of 5, not bad).

One warning previously posted - do not use online check-in if you want to pay for DDP with other than the credit card on the form. They will automatically charge it to the credit card.

We have used it 7 times and haven't seen the benefit yet.

We used it for the first time (at BLT) a few weeks ago. We did not get any DP, had standard view and I had not made any requests - thought we'd just see what happened.

Our check in process took exactly 3 minutes and we were very happy with our 1 bedroom assignment. We arrived around 1:30 pm on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our room was ready, a pleasant surprise.

All in all, I thought the process was quick and easy. I really liked that the front desk personnel did not have to see or handle my credit card. I'm a bit paranoid - the fewer people that see my info, the better. That part of the online check in process is a big benefit to me.

I'll try the online process again on our next trip (at the BWV). Might feel differently after that one.

If you feel that you may want to make changes to your room location, ask questions of the front desk CM, or do any sort of transaction at the front desk, then online check-in won't be useful for you...it won't save you any time.

Now that I've used it, I see that it's ideally suited for guests like me....I don't often make room location requests, and even if I do, they're preferences, no big deal if I don't get them. I can't remember the last time I had any questions for the CM at check-in. I just want to get my key and packet and get on my way.

We have used online check-in 4 times:

Old Key West (no requests) - room ready at check-in 9AM

Beach Club Villas (no requests) - room ready at check-in 12 noon

Saratoga Springs (requested 1st floor near transportation) - got both and room was ready at check-in 11AM

Riverside (requested 1st floor and near transportation) - got 1st floor and room was ready at check-in 3PM

So as you can see, our experience so far with on-line check in has been excellent.

Tried to use on-line check in on both of our last two Disney trips - one at POR and one a HH - neither time did the process even work for us. We have a Mac and I guess there is some problem between our Mac and the on-line check-in.

We have six villas reserved this summer for an extended family trip - I'm guessing it would be a nightmare to try to do this on-line ahead of time. Do you think we'd probably be best to just check-in the old fashioned way?

We used online checkin for our stay at Kidani in November. When we made the ressie, we requested a low floor near the lobby.

When we did the online checkin, there was no place to re-affirm our room requests. That made me a little nervous.

When we arrived, we received our packet and handwritten on the packet was "See Room Requests". That made me feel better as that would seem to indicate that the assigments look back at your original request.

We received a room on the 2nd floor, not too far from the lobby. :cool1:

I am curious about this as well. We check in to BCV on friday and I went ahead and did online check in. We shall see - I requested high floor through MS.

I have use Online check-in 4 times in total.

1. I use online check-in for SSR on Sept 08, 2009 - Room was ready about 2 hours after arrivaling.

2. I use online check-in for AKL (Kidani Village) on Dec 13, 2009 - Room was not ready into about 4:00 PM.

3. I use online check-in for SSR on Dec 13, 2009 and listed my ETA as 1O:30 AM. I arrived about 10:45 AM via DME, and my room was ready in the area I requested.

4. I use online check-in for BTL on Dec 15, 2009 and listed my ETA as 8:00 AM. I arrived at 8:30 AM and my room was ready in the area I requested.

Please Note, that with online check-in, your room # & location has already been selected prior to your arrival, So if the last guest in that room checks out late. It will delay your process in your room being clean & ready for you.

As of now, all room requests, still needs to be noted by MS. Once you make your reservation, just call, email or fax your room requests to MS.

within 10 day's prior to your arrival, use online check-in and fill everything that apply's to you.

when you arrive, your Welcome Home Folder (Check-in Folder), will be waiting and the front desk will already beware of your request's.

Sure wish I had known that before doing online checkin at BWV in Dec. Funny thing was that they didn't do that at AKL..paid with my gift card there.

I really think that online checkin saves you about 5 mins..unless it's a really busy time of day. I doubt I'll use online checkin again.

I liked it when we used it at BCV in March. We were hoping our room would be ready when we got there (noon), and it was. There is a place on the online form to put what time you expect to arrive at the resort. We had no room location requests.
