Has anyone rented a car at TPA just to get to WDW, and then turned it in near WDW somewhere? If so, could you please fill me in on any details? (which rental company, where you dropped off, approx. cost)

Thanks for any help you can give! :)

It's done all the time. For specific auto rental info, go to each auto rental company's web site. Most don't charge extra for one-way travel within Florida.

We have had good experience with both National and Dollar. Alamo is located on WDW grounds, so they would be quite convenient.

We just did this two weeks ago with National. Our flight landed around 12:30 pm, we used the Emerald Aisle service, drove through torrential downpours, hit some road contruction on I-4 about 10 miles from Disney, dropped the car at the Car Care Center in Disney World, they shuttled us to the Coronado Springs, we checked in, hit the pool, and still made our 6:30 pm reservation at the Maya Grill! All for about $39.00. It was my impression, though, that if you have a later afternoon arrival, traffic could get pretty bad out of the Tampa area.

Thanks, Lew and Sherlee! I appreciate your replies.

Wow, Sherlee, $39 sounds really reasonable. I checked this scenario on Budget, and the lowest at the time was $59. Plus the dropoff didn't seem to be on Disney property. (?)

I'll have to go check what Alamo and National have to offer.

Thanks again to both of you. :)
