I have recently transferred in some 2009 points from a very kind DVCer. They are Dec09 points. I wanted these for a trip next year.

Am I able to transfer in again, but this time, transfer in 08 points for an upcoming trip?

Also, if I want to transfer next year, can I transfer in some 2010 points?

These big family vacations are going to force me to add on:headache:

You should be able to. The rule is one transfer either in or out, per use year.

Also, because transferred points cannot be borrowed, the Dec 09 points you already borrowed cannot be used for a trip any earlier than Dec 2009. You said they were for a trip "next year," so I hope that this doesn't impact your plans. -- Suzanne

Hmmm . . . Let's say I borrow from 2010 for a trip in 2009. Then, for a trip in 2010, I want to borrow points from 2011. Since I already had one transfer out for the 2010, am I precluded from putting points IN from 2011?
Thanks. I've been calculating how many points I need to purchase, and if I can't do what I'm asking above, I have to re-calculate everything!

The fact that you will have transferred out some of your 2010 points, that will not impact being able to borrow from your 2011 use year.

It's no different than if you used the points for a reservation, or had borrowed them and used them in 2009.

If you are talking about borrowing your own points from 2011 you should be okay as that is different than transferring points from another account

Thanks.
Yes, I am confusing "transferring" with "borrowing/banking." "Transfer" moves points out of or into the account, while "borrowing/banking" are internal to the account.Only one transfer per UY, but the internal moving is unlimited. Now I am back on track to becoming a DVC member!

Once you borrow, those points become that Use years points, they cannot be returned. Say you borrow 2010 into 2009, they are now 2009 points, they will expire at the end of your 2009 use year. If you are planning a big trip in 2009 then you could also except a transfer for 2009, you could also bank your 2008 points into 2009, this would give you a lot of points that you would need to use in One 12 month period of time. If your trip is for 2010, the same procedure works, just change the years. The banked and borrowed points will all expire the end of the same Use year. Make sure you are wanting to do this.

There are two exceptions, You can still bank Transferred points, so if you have to except a transfer for more points than you need, then you can bank them into the next year. If you except a transfer and are wanting to use the 11 month booking window, then you need to find someone with the same Home Resort as you. Before I would except a transfer, I would call Member Services and ask if those points would work for the reservation I am wanting to make. You would still have banking on your current 2009 points also.

one thing to remember--is that, apparently, you can only have 3 years worth of points in any UY, including tranfer points. So, if you have a 150 point contract, you can only have 450 transfer, borrowed, banked and alloted points for a 2009 UY. Some have said that DVC might not "enforce" this rule, but it is worth noting if you are going to be close to the limit. It threw a bit of a wrinkle into my plans and I had to make a math spreadsheet out to figure out which year's points to bank, etc.
