Despite using in the past a few times, I'm fuzzy at best as to one-time point procedure.

I see availability for one night of the two I need for a last minute trip in January; of which I don't have enough points to book in it's entirety even if both nights were available.

Don't really want to borrow, Believe it's set up that I could purchase enough one-time points to flush out the available date, but not speculatively for a waitlist.

since I do have another membership # for different UY add on, wondering if I do see the other room pop up down the road, could I utilize that account to book & link the reservations?

Had thought I might be able to use points I have in that account, then purchase (via a 2nd transaction) more one-time use points (up to the 24 stated)...or would a 2nd transaction be forbidden even if going in a different membership?

Would it best to just accept I need to borrow points for the one night and then keep looking for the 2nd?

Unsure if I need 'some' points leftover in the same membership # as the original reservation, in order to buy the one-time points for the 2nd night if it comes thru or could they all be purchased?

Those one-time-use points have really helped us a few times. In fact on one trip we were booking with 2 different contracts and added a few points to each to complete the two reservations. (Of course if we would have had points to borrow we would have done that first.)

So if I have two different memberships with different numbers & UYs, I can purchase 24 each?
Yes, but that may not help in every situation since OTU points cannot be transferred. You would have to book complete nights in each contract.

What if you needed exactly 48 more points to complete a reservation, but no combination of whole nights added up to 24 points?

I think the best way to do it in that case would be to check the board for one-time transfers and rent those points from another user.

True, but in this case just 2 nights, under that mark. Now, all I need is the availability to open up

AS noted, once per UY per master contract. But it could change and likely will over time. When I've looked at the wording in the past on transfers after they made the last change, the wording was more technically interpreted as once per member rather than once per master contract but the implementation has been once per master.

Same. Nothing wrong with borrowing IMO.
I know there are those that detest borrowing and would rather pay for a transfer or do the OTU points instead. Unless one has a specific plan for those points in terms of UY or a specific trip, borrowing is essentially always the best plan if possible.

You may also want to check if a cash room is available. It's been a long time but I booked a weekend night for an OKW 1 bedroom a couple times on cash to stretch my points, using the 25% member discount. At the time (before reallocations) it was 48 points and I paid around $425 cash rate.
