And he invited me around but I said no. It's his birthday party and he's inviting a lot of people most of whom would not appreciate me being there so I have made up an excuse. But I'm really sad because I havn't done anything social like this in years and would really want to go. But I think it would be a nicer atmosphere without the tension of having me there. =(

Well do what I do. Go, dont drink, dont get in a vehicle with anyone, unless your driving. Ehh. I've been in that situation; where I was at a party with drinking then i remember my mom said she would pick me up at anytime, anywhere, if Im in trouble. So I called her. I was younger then, now, im getting use to the fact my friends drink, and now we all just make sure, theirs a designative driver.(me) cause i dont drink. =)

Oh it's not the drinking :( I do that on my own.

It's the other people there. Just that this guy is one of my two friends, both of whom are attending (they're hosting basically - it's a birthday drinks) but yeah...
I really want to go but I think I'm doing them a favour by not. =S

If you don't feel comfortable, don't go. Simple as that. Sure you wanna go and be there for your friend on his birthday but if you are worried about some of the guests he's inviting, then it's probably better if you don't go. Maybe you and your friend could get together, just the two of you, to celebrate his birthday. :confused3
