we want to stay in an off-site hotel for the night we get in. it will be fairly late flight so I don't care about pools and such but don't want a dirty room. also want to get either a taxi or something to get to POR the next day. guessing you can't use the disney tran. since we won't have checked in . any ideas on how much it will cost to take a taxi (probably from the marriot if the rates are good enough since I've heard good things about it). or any suggestions . only stayed off site once and it was a NIGHTMARE!

When we have arrived late, we have used priceline to bid on hotels near the airport. Twice we stayed at La Quinta and took their shuttle to and from the airport (it stopped running about 11 pm). We ate the continental breakfast, traveled back to the airport for our transportation (once we saved money on a rental car by waiting to pick it up the next day). We only paid $22 and $23 for the room. Room was fine and saved us more $ for WDW.

I've also seen the Marriott Airport go for around $25 on www.biddingfortravel.com You can learn a lot about how to bid and what the going prices are at that site.

thanks I was considering priceline or hot wire since I have had good success with them in the past although some of the rates I've seen on this site match what I've gotten on priceline!

I just got Best Western Lake Buena Vista through priceline for $25. I wanted to fly in a day early so that we could take advantage of the park passes the first day and I DID NOT want to stay in a scary place (even though we'll be there for less than 8 hours). We're staying at POR too! I think we'll just do the taxi thing to get over to POR the next morning - it isn't that far and should be over $10 from a hotel in the DTD (and I'm just TOTALLY guessing on that). Good luck with your plans jann, hope you have a great trip!

I am doing the exact same thing but bid on priceline for a resort got the Wyndham and will take cab to POR the next morning.

a litlle off track but how far away are your vacations...I was planning on priceline for the trip down( staying in FW now and driving instead of flying, old habits die hard!) and wondered how good the prices would be this early.
Thanks

jann1033 - We're going to stay in DTD on 10/22/03 (BWLBV in DTD through Priceline), then we have 7 nights at POR from 10/23-10/30/03! 30 days away and these girls can't wait!!!!! Good luck planning!
