Is the tour worthwhile? I have some questions about it...

1) What do you have to do to be able to take the tour?

2) What do you do on the tour?

3) How long does it take?

4) Would my family enjoy it even though they don't go on vmk? Or is it all about vmk?

5) Do you get free vmk things if you go?

Well here's some answers...from a Disneylander's point of view.

1) You have to complete all the quests...the Frontierland/Critter Country (in Disneyland), Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Then, if you get all the questions correct on all the quests you get a VIP Insider Tour card which allows you sign up for a tour and lets you get a VIP badge on your character in the game.

2) You get backdoored onto 3 rides...Jungle Cruise (to answer questions about the game...to get more codes!), Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (to answer questions to get BTMRR Teleporters), and Haunted Mansion (for the Haunted Mansion quest to get up to 7 items). Between the rides, the tour guide is very informative about what's coming soon in VMK (we got to see all the future costumes) and the comparisons between the park and VMK.

3) It can take up to 3.5 hours, but mostly 2.5 hours if you allow yourself 15-30 minutes of VMK time at the end of the tour. The tour I took was especially long because of the huge crowds at the park.

4) My parents had a wonderful time taking the VMK tour. If anything you get to go on 3 rides, with little or no wait. The tour is all centered around VMK. Schedule it on the busiest day of your trip and you'll all find It's a great way to spend 3 hours.

5) Yes, the entire tour is about getting free things. You do get to take the Haunted Mansion quest which can yield up to 7 items (including the Haunted Mansion guest room) and the Jungle Cruise questions can get you a couple cards depending on how big your tour group is. At the end of the tour you also get the Gold Show Designer's collection which yields 5 gold items.

Hope this helps you out! ;)

Are you *sure* that you have to do the Tomorrowland quest in addition to the other three before you can go on the tour? Or does it only require the Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Frontierland quests?

Not that the Tomorrowland quest isn't great to do, but I wanted to make sure for the VMK article. :)

Cool, thanks!

Do they hand out copies of the Tomorrowland quest at the park now? Or do they still make you print it at home and bring it in?

It would kind of stink to forget to bring a copy of that quest along, and then be unable to take the tour!

I agree with Roxanne. Prior to the Tomorrowland quest being out, you only had to complete 3 quests to do the tour. Now they require that you complete all of them.

At WDW they specifically said they don't have a way to print out the Tomorrowland quest and they don't have copies to hand out. They said to bring it from home *or* take the Monorail over to the Contemporary and use the business center to print out a copy of the quest.

I always bring extra copies with me when I go. I can't wait to take the tour. I have three of the VMK tour cards. Does that mean I get to take it three times?

You can only take it once every 30 days. They will scan your park ticket to 'register' it for the tour and to make sure it hasn't been more often than allowed.

You can get up to 4 people into the tour on one tour card tho. So, you might want to save the other tour cards until you can take the tour again.

Do you know if I can I use them all at one time to have 12 people on the tour?

I don't see why not as long as all 12 have the valid admission required. You'll need to give each group of 4 their own card, and you'll need to make sure there is enough room on the tour the day you want to go.

At WDW due to the low demand for the tour, they are offering it twice a day at 1:30 pm and at 4:30 pm. My tour had 16 people on it, so, having 12 shouldn't be a problem. I'd register for it as soon as you get to the park tho.

BTW, here's something I found out about the Tomorrowland quest. If you absolutely don't have any access to a printer you can write down all the questions and recite the answers to the cast members at the VMK kiosk. They can't tell you what the questions or the possible answers are, but if you know the answers they will give you the prizes.
