One more Airtran question

Hi again,

I asked this in my other thread, but I think it got buried in my other questions. What is the difference between the cheap "web special" rate and the same price "discount coach" rate. The web is t class and the other is q class. I notice the discount coach rates seem to sell out first, but I cannot figure out what the difference is.

Confused as to exactly what you're asking...I've flown on different class designations w/AT (other than business & full fare rates). Other than the prices being lower & the fact that you can only check in on-line 24 hours prior; no difference.

Of course if a TA books your flight, you'll pay more for a higher class & the ability to assign seats @ booking.

You can cancel & rebook each segment of flight for a $50 change fee & you are permitted to change vouchers/credits 1 time too...hope this helps.

When I pull up the flights there are two listings for $99 each way, one is Web Special, the other is Discount Coach, and when I click on them they have different classes. Since they are the same price and both choose seats at check in I was just trying to figure out why they are listed differently. The Discount Coach ones always seem to sell out first. It doesn't really matter I guess, I was just curious.

I'm using Air Tran for first time tomorrow I wondered the same thing as you - about the difference between Web Fare and Discount. My understanding was that Web Fare you had to wait until checkin to get your assigned seats. And with Discount - you could do it online 24 hours ahead of time. With regular seating - you could pick your seats at time of purchase.

I purchased the Web Fare seats. HOWEVER - just this morning I attempted to pick my seats online and lo and behold - it let me. My seats were already assigned and I had a chance to change them if I wanted to - which I did so we'd all 3 be together.

It then asked me how many pieces of luggage each of us would be checking and THEN it let me print my bording passes.

Woohoo - I fell lucky

Now - if I can only figure out how to do this from ASMo the day before we return I'll be tickled pink
