Ok, time for my last update. I might do a last thoughts list and maybe even a “next time” list. But this is the final trip update. I’m so sad! I know I’ve gotten sidetracked here and there so I thank you very much for sticking with me. I also have made some really great friends on the Dis just by writing this report so if nothing else, that’s worth it to me.
I also will preface this chapter by saying there are very FEW pictures. I didn’t have it in me, I had Mickey depression. Who could stand to document leaving such a magical world? Not I said the fly!!!
Our checkout date was Saturday, December 12th. And wouldn’t you know it, it was GORGEOUS. The day and night prior were cold and dark. And this day was perfect. Huge bummer!! Our transfer was coming to pick us up around 11am if I remember correctly. If you recall, our flight came into Sanford so we had a drive to get back to the airport. We cleaned up, left a tip for the mousekeeper, checked under the beds for any missing articles and bid our lovely OKW room goodbye. For some reason I cannot now remember we didn’t call bell services to help with our bags. Big mistake!! We had to lug all of our suitcases, carry-ons, shopping bags, etc. onto a bus with us. Seriously, what a pain! I had three kids and a ton of luggage to keep an eye on. But we did make it with no one lost and no one injured. I parked everyone on a bench and ran into the gift shop to pick up a few snacks for the flight. I got this really yummy Chip and Dale snack mix and wish I would have bought more! It was that good.
Fl Tours arrived a little early and we were off to the airport! The drive there was long and boring. I didn’t want our trip to be over and I didn’t want to be going back to snowy, cold Minnesota. I did miss my husband and Michael of course but was secretly wishing for them to come meet us at Disney and we could live there forever! Ok, didn’t happen and my dreams were dashed. I was a very sad panda.
I’m such a nerd and always interested in other states’ gas prices-
Bye Bye Orlando-
Mickey’s PhilharMagic? Yes please!!
Eh, we’re here. Cue big tears and sad faces-
But this plane is pretty cool the boys were thinking-
We tipped our friendly driver and made our way inside to wait in a fairly long line that was going nowhere. Allegiant’s counter was not open yet so we were forced to stand there and somehow entertain four kids until it opened. All of the people waiting were going back to the small boondock small airport that we were so we all had the same goal in mind. Unfortunately, I got stuck behind somebody I was just really was turned off of. She had three kids along with her husband but they ignored their children and made very loud talk with another couple about all the mixed drinks they put away that week. They also said they spent all of their time shopping, drinking and swimming because they “couldn’t be bothered to go to Disneyland”. Yes she said it. The statement in itself is appalling and then she called it Disneyland. Oh man, was I biting my tongue hard at that point. My sister and I were giving each other “the look” and really hoping we would start moving through that line quickly. I remember thinking to myself “Lord, please keep your hand over my mouth!!”
We did start moving and got everything all checked in as it should be. I was a little worried I would go over the baggage weight limit but I had a super friendly clerk who just smiled and waved me on. Love nice people!!
It was lunchtime of course so you know the kids were all about food. I do not remember the name of the burger place at that airport but please skip it. It was neither good nor cheap. I spent $60 on four burgers, four fries, two sodas and one Oreo shake. Seriously? Maybe I wouldn’t blink spending that much in Disney but ick to paying that in an airport. I was so not impressed and ready go to home at that point. We found our little gate and saw our flight was a tiny bit delayed. Not a huge deal and the kids spent their time playing with their DS, listening to the Ipod and finishing up homework.
Dimitri was hiding underneath the seats so you can’t see him. I’m pretty sure he was pretending he was a ninja. Though I did have to motion him away from this door so he didn’t set off the alarm.
I also made a run into the gift shop for a magazine to read on the flight. At that time, Tiger Woods was all over every cover. I also picked up some astronaut ice cream, which I just adore and couldn’t find in DHS this trip.
Ok, time to board.
Morghan sat with my sister and Jayse, while Kenah, Dimitri and I were behind them. The flight was pretty uneventful except for one gentleman sitting behind me who keep smacking and popping his gum. Once again, I asked for help in keeping my lips zipped. But seriously, who does that on an airplane? Gross.
We all napped on and off and it was close to 5:30pm when we touched down and saw this sight. DO NOT BE JEALOUS! Move to Minnesota and all of the snowy, dark, frigidness can be yours as well. Brrr.
I was greeted by Marshall and Michael and they were happy to see us as we were to see them! We got our bags okay and made our way into our cold, non-magical surroundings. Thankfully Marshall remembered our winter coats so that helped with the cold but the big kiddos and I were feeling the Disney blues already. We made it home and pretty much crashed and adjusted to being home for the rest of the weekend. It was a wonderful trip! Everything didn’t go according to plan but it was just a vacation we will remember forever. I feel very blessed to be able to do things with my children like this and am so happy to be able to pass on the Disney love.
Up next…final thoughts and wrap up, future plans maybe?? LOL!
